Really. More annoying than the hordes of complainers that blame others for all their life's problems on loop like broken records while doing nothing about it?

They're like Vegans at dinner.

Less food available, more flooding / droughts etc. but it is not end of humanity stuff. People say it is but I wonder if they’ve read the reports and even that is all assuming all the “models” are 100% correct, which lets be honest they won’t be.

So it’ll be bad, people will die, but it won’t be the end of humans and society will figure out a way to move on with climate change is my prediction. And that doesn’t mean we don’t try to be more sustainable, it isn’t a political statement or meant to be, and it is a real large problem for sure. But, mainly when it comes to “end of civilization” and other alluding to doomsday “this is the worst thing ever” type rhetoric, I wonder how much people have critically thought about this.
Look at the immigration crises of the past couple of decades, leading to a surge of Trump-style authoritarian movements around the world. When the number of refugees grows from millions to hundreds of millions in the coming decades, expect to see many more and far worse versions of the Trump/Bolsonaro/Putin style governments that we've seen to this point.

My worry is that the effects of climate change will likely cause the world to plummet into an extreme right-wing fascist #### hole, from which it may never return...

Pessimism has mostly degenerated into a way for people to just complain about things rather than actually address the problems. There are probably better ways to spend your time whining – hard work might not guarantee you success but it is always better than doing nothing and possibly getting fired for complaining around. Plus it discourages people to stay away from you because nobody likes a complainer.

^ yeah, ok...

One thing I've always noticed about the "complainers about the complainers"... they seldom if ever actually address the things that the complainers are actually complaining about. Like, do they maybe actually have a point? Did you ever stop and think about that? Or do you just dismiss them offhand every time just because it's the convenient thing to do?

Hmm... seems like if someone did something to inhibit, threaten, or endanger something that was important to you, in a way that you had no means to put a stop to, chances are you WOULD be complaining...

And those situations garner support, and lots of it, very quickly.

Most complaints are just people whining because whining has become a way of life for many. Social media is basically everyone sitting around, complaining about things that almost always have no impact on them whatsoever.

Pessimists create their own problems and should take responsibiliy for it. They act as if the world revolves around them and feel that the rest of the world should just drop everything they are doing to help them. Screw that!

You want help? Take my advice and seek out some professional help. Someone who is trained to deal with and tolerate your constant negitivity. It's not our fault that you live in a world of perpetual gloom and doom.

Pessimists are apathetic and dismissive. Instead of looking at the glass as being half full or half empty. To them the glass is completely empty.

In the mean time, #### off and tell your pessimisim to someone who cares!

You can have your steak and eat it too if you just focus on what’s in your control, or perhaps read a book and talk about it with a mental health professional. Let them guide you.

I have an appointment with a therapist to have a steak dinner and we're gonna hammer out the World's Problems.

I got this. No worries.

The OP doesn’t say ‘I feel bad.’ It says ‘the world has gone to crap.’ You’re correct that the first is subjective. But the second isn’t.

I would say the second is largely a matter of perspective too. Who has it gone to crap for? Everyone? I don't think that's accurate

I cup my hands together to make a cup. Are these "glasses" some kind of new European fad?

Putin probably feels the exact same way. Anyone who feels negatively about him or the way he does things is just a pessimist who needs to seek professional help. Same goes for Nazi Germany. Pessimistic Jews created their own bad situation and should point the finger at themselves.

A realist doesn't need a glass. They know enough not to drink the dirty water.
