People questioning him doing this as a Senator is odd. He's going to go back to the Sens, with a drive to get to the playoffs and get that feeling going there. They should be thrilled with his activity.

Kylington's CF% of 66.7 and CRel% of 4.5 wasn't too bad. But Hanifin, Andersson and Stone all were better. Stone is still putting up excellent possession numbers. Second pair should probably be Zadorov-Stone. But I think Sutter insists on pairing Kylington with a capable vet.

McAvi plays so much that they need two d-men pairs and two forward lines to cover him.
And he's also double shifted. They don't even double him with the same lines - he's out there with Kassian, Kane and Yamamoto.

Nope. Appears to be just some loudmouth shouting overtop of a broadcast and providing zero insight.
I can’t believe this is a thing

It absolutely amazes me. He provides nothing interesting or informative at all. Reads stats, and talks casually about the game.
Baffling.
He was also 10x more excited when the Oilers scored than when the Flames did. So #### him.

A little too much self-awareness in the ATL. I hope that’s not indicative of the fans actually absorbing reality. It’s funnier when they’re surprised.

Easier said than done, but I don't know why they feel they need to win the puck off of him when he's against the boards, close to the blueline. Just keep him in front of you and don't jump in!
Dube has the skating ability and tenacity where you don't expect that to happen against him that easily, even if it is McDavid. I do expect him and the rest of the Flames to defend him better moving forward!
|
McDavid feasts on 1:1 situations against forwards. Few can stop him. The key is not putting yourself in that situation. If he's coming down, with speed, against a forward - he will more often than not - generate a chance.

In defense of Gudbranson and Zadorov, Sutter gave them 60% defensive zone starts. Lindholm, Jarncrok and Toffoli also got a lot of d-zone starts. Oddly, Lewis got some cushy minutes.

This was the broken stick play. It looked like Jarnkrok was closest and never really got to him in any way. But yeah, it should never have gotten to a shot.

Lewis plays on a line who is best at o-zone pressure, even though he himself is a good defensive guy. In their own zone Lucic is adequate at best and Ritchie can be a disaster waiting to happen.

McDavid WILL get points. He always does. And he's extra motivated.
If you keep him at 1-2 ppg for the series, Flames win. If he's at 3-4ppg, Flames might be in trouble. He had 4 yesterday and we won unconventionally, but they shouldn't make that a habit.
Tkachuk's chirping of Kane was absolutely sublime. You want some money? Just gold.
Then kept repeating You poor bastard when they were in the box and Kane didn't know how to react. #### that guy.

Well, there is a penalty for intentionally removing your helmet (eg for a fight), IIRC. But this wasn't that. His helmet got ripped off in the scrum (which maybe should be a penalty if it's deemed intentional).

I liked the way Zadorov handled that confrontation at the end. He could have engaged with Keith and leveled him, but he showed restraint to just settle things down and walk away with a win and no risk of further disciplinary action.

Yeah, I totally understand the 100% offensive zone starts for Ritchie.

I live in Calgary. The media talks as if this one is already over.
List of Fan 960 takes.
Flames offense will dummy our pathetic D core.
Flames will bully our smaller team out of the building.
Mike Smith is a sieve, will get pulled.
Oilers will only score on the PP.
Draisaitl is too hurt to be effective.
Oilers have zero structure.
A lot of dangerous thought processes here.
Hope they don't get... UPSET.
|
The only thing they got wrong was that the Oilers would score on the PP

It's weird because what Calgary media is actually saying this though?
960 is completely timid about this series. Except for Pinder enjoying some Smitty-isms (and truly who doesn't?), they all think it'll be a long series.
