What a game.
That second Tkachuk goal was comical. Absolute panic by the Oilers.

The Oilers in that ATL are obsessed with their blueline's performance. But McD and Dre were sporting equally bad +/-. It is crazy that even the fanbase fails to call out their "stars". That blueline had no support from their forwards, they visibly gave up in the third period.

Congrats again to Noah Hanifin playing his 500th NHL game, and adding two assists.
Noah hit the 500 game milestone at 25 years and 60 days, and only 4 other NHL defensemen have done it sooner.

NHL game. At 25 years, 60 days, he’s the fifth-youngest defenseman in NHL history to reach the milestone and youngest since 1994.

Still just feeling the glow today!!! What a fantastic game!! Boys are getting a well-deserved day of rest. Can't believe all the whining on HF Oil about reffing...what the hell do they want? 30 PP a game?
And just loved the Bieksa DGAF "That was a beat-down" comment that just kinda stunned the rest of the panel. Not so much Elliotte as he's quite neutral, but Maclean and Hrudey (on OilCasts) are both brutal, and Amber is no better.

The Flames top line holds down three of the top four spots for +/- league wide.

McLean is the worst. Period. Hrudey is bad. And Friedman is spotty - sometimes great, sometimes horrific.
But I don't get the hate for Amber, I think he is really good. I find he spreads it around quite fairly.

From Bingos Game Takes:
That's what you want from your shutdown center. Limit their chances, try to suppress the damage they can do. To do it against the "top" two offensive players in the league is somewhat elite.
That in itself is exactly what this team pays him for. So important.
But wait.
Scores two, assists on another, takes eight shots on goal, has 3 takeaways, finishes a +3 with the most ice among Flames forwards.
What a game.

I'm out of thanks, just like everyone else, but this needs to be posted again either way.

Agreed - More David Amber and less Ron MacLean (by less I would like no more Ron MacLean period) would be a move in the right direction.

Yeah that's the best version of Backlund I've seen in a long time, and it must depress other teams to have to play against him. A snarly, clever, tenacious, responsible center.

These 2 guys that are 95+ points only sit at +14 for 5 on 5 play. Johnny and Matt are both well over +40. Mcjesus and King Leon are PP specialists and are horrendous in the defensive zone.

When Hanifin eventually retires a lot of people are going to be shocked how high he is on all time games played lists.
Sutter seems to have gotten him to get his game up a level. He's not an offensive dynamo, but he's way too good to be a guy who had 4 assists thru 22 games last year and being a defence only defender. He's got a shot at 40 points and I think he could start pushing 50 as soon as next year.

And Bieksa, whom Flames fans used to hate, seems less punchable these days.

I just like how Hanafin has more games played than McDavid. Leads the 2015 draft.
I hope it always remains that way. Just for spiteful purposes.

I think a lot of that has to do with Gio destroying McDavid's leg and other injuries and time out for McDavid.

I like Hrudey. I think he's a better analyst than color guy. But I think he tries way too hard to be positive all the time. Usually his more negative takes are weird ones. It's not always all kittens and flowers. One of the reasons I actually liked Ray Ferraro as a color guy. He had a super sarcastic way of calling the game, I didn't always agree, but I'm not trying to be their friend I just want to be entertained.
Hrudey was at his best a few years ago when he ripped into Rene Bourque.

I'm actually half-surprised that McDavid didnt do a complete yard-sale and lose his helmet, stick and gloves as he went ass over teakettle.
What a chump.
