#### the standings, no one can convince me the Oilers aren’t the worst team in the league.

I have't seen a team that reliant on getting powerplay opportunities in a long time. They might make the playoffs, but they'll get absolutely smoked once the game gets tighter and they are forced to actually create 5 on 5. Giving up 9 even strength goals to us isn't even a mirage, it's just who they are ... I never thought I'd ever agree with Spector, but "even strength men against powerplay boys" is an incredibly apt description.

What a splendid game that was! I'll admit I was a bit worried when it was tied again at 4. But the floodgates really opened after that. Koskinen lets in 5. Smith lets in 4. Nurse gets an own-goal. Draisaitl's hat trick means SFA. Hat trick...and -4 LOL who does that.

Super duper uber fun!

I wonder how many goals the Flames would have scored if the game hadn’t been a back-to-back?

Typical canned responses from the Oilers post game

We have to be better, and we will be
Can’t give up 9goals and expect to win
It starts with me

Not 1 acknowledgment that the Flames played well

Aside from the power plays, I didn't see much sustained offense zone pressure from the Oilers tonight. Meanwhile, the Flames were hemming the Oilers in the D zone after the first period, even pushing for a goal in the dying minutes of the 3rd period with the score at 9-5.

It reminds me how wrong HFOils quote was from our GDT:

"Darnell Nurse will have his best game of the season and McDavid and Drysaitl will be, well, McDavid and Draisaitl. Goaltending will not be a question. The puck will be in the Flames D zone all night."

We need a new “goal-a” song after that one!

Saturday night at the dome started out fine, but where did the pick end up going 9 times? In your goal-a”

The high scoring, high flying Oilers score 5 while going 3/5 on the power play, unfortunately for Cassie Campbell and the SN Team, The Flames score 9.

That has to be one of the most satisfying wins over the Oilers that I can remember in some time. A big part of it is the confidence this Flames team is showing, especially five on five. Go Flames Go!!

Best part for me is knowing Nurse doesn't start his 8 year 9.25 million dollar contract until next season

at "market value"

Not often do the team and fans share such harmonious energy as we saw in the last 5 minutes last night.

Fans chanted “we want 10” and the players went for the jugular. We both wanted it to happen so badly. It was awesome to see the team with that much jump in the last few minutes of a 9-5 drubbing.

Also I’m trying to think of what goal could have been considered “soft” last night…maybe the 5th because Koskinen was just lost in his net?

Their defensive zone coverage was atrocious.

Any word on whether McDavid is OK after that vicious elbow? I was pretty concerned with how hard he went down, have to believe the paramedics were real close to rushing out on the ice there. You know it's a scary hit when the body flies through the air like that. McDavid is one tough dude who will always fight through any contact so you know that was one violent collision.

Luckily the league enforces the concussion protocol to really protect the player in violent cases like this.
