- gives credit to the PP
- feels the dmen still hesitating to shoot too much from the point
- sarcastically says, "You know, Toronto's the perfect team and we're not"

I've looked at points from the D and the correlation with playoffs. It boils down pretty simply: if the D gets over 150 points, you make the playoffs, less, you don't.

There are exceptions of course (BOS was a perennial exception) but the correlation is REALLY strong.

I would assume the 3 goal rule follows an identical path

Textbook clean hit. Tavares said after the game that he didn't like it and the "hands came up." He also mentioned that he didn't see a replay. Well, maybe you should check one out before you put your foot in your mouth, Tavares.

When was the last time the Flames won a back-to-back, let alone dominate a back-to-back?

I thought he seemed exceptionally happy and proud. Darryl style of course.

Reading into Sutter's presser a little, and also in light of recent scoring burst, I wonder if the team might actually be looking to acquire a faceoff specialist moreso than a scoring winger...

Isn't Monahan doing a good job at that?

I think Gaskal's going to have a lot of Salt to mine in the coming weeks. Flames are going to establish themselves here, and the Oilers are going to fade hard. He'll need to clone himself to uncover all of it.

The Flames are 11th in the NHL in faceoff %, so it's not terribly pressing. But if the team is looking for areas to improve on at the deadline, you might look at 11th in FO% and 12th in PP and see if those are areas that can get a bit better. Sutter mentioned they have a lot of faceoff set plays, but you got to win draws and they weren't great at that today (but still scored two off faceoffs won).

Hopefully no coach changing bump for them... but the end of February for them... on the road against Tampa Bay, Florida, and Carolina (latter two back to back) ... OUCH!

This is the fifth time this season that the Flames have won both halves of a back-to-back. The Islanders (5-2) & Bruins (4-0) games in November would count as dominant.

You love to see it.

It was a great 48 hours! Oilers lose to Vegas at around 9:30pm on the 8th to the Flames beat the Leafs at around 9:30pm on the 10th.

Could also add the Flames moved up to 1st in the division on point % while Edmonton dropped out of a playoff spot on both points and %.

Can't think of a much better 2 days in a row as a Flames fan!
