Sign him.
You want your team to be perfect and all the players too. That's not realistic. Evander Kane is a player with the skills to help pretty much every team in the league, yet so many fans don't want him on their team. Heck, players don't want him on their team.

For me the issue is, the players didn't want him on their team. He is toxic and obviously divisive if the Sharks players told management that he needs to be gone. The Jets players did the same and I'm sure there was probably some of that happening in Buffalo too.

If he can just play and not be a side show distraction in the room, then sign me up, yet here we are, yet another team doesn't want Kane anywhere near their dressing room.

This is more of an issue of how his attitude affects the rest of the team instead of the dumb things he does off ice. He is toxic enough for teams to want to get rid of him. The Sharks were desperate to get rid of him so they used to the illegal stuff he got caught doing as a reason to terminate his contract and wipe their hands clear of him. I suspect it wasn't so much his illegal activities that made the organization want him gone but the negative way he affected the dressing room that made them look for ways to get rid of him.

If some team wants to risk signing him, then go for it. That's their decision. I just don't want my team to risk them becoming another team that desperately wants to get rid of Kane before they lose other key players who want to be away from him.

A consistent 60-point player who has never scored 60 points.

I just find it odd when you see the people saying "He's got the skills man! Sign him up!!"

As though adding a player to a team is ceteris paribus. All other factors will remain equal, skill will be added ergo the final product must improve.

But thats very obviously not how it works.

You add a guy like Kane who has been 'persona non grata' everywhere he's gone and people think he'd be a net positive to their team?

Why? If he adds 50 points but 10-20 other players regress because they hate playing with him, or dont re-sign or whatever...were those 50 points a net positive?

Probably not.

DeAngelo has turned out pretty well for Carolina. 6G so far.

Kane is less toxic IMO and is worth a shot if he wants to come here.

There should be a mandated clause included for whoever signs him this time that there is no easy out, you sign him you are stuck with him and/or his cap for however long you were dumb enough to sign him for.

I agree. San Jose shouldn't be gaining cap space from all this.

I see a few Canadian teams are connected to this guy in the news but I just don't see that happening unless it's his only option or perhaps if the money is way better (he needs the money to pay his debts) but the media and fan attention WHEN is screws up will be extreme... I think he's more likely to select a small market USA team for this reason.

I'm all ears on this, they're different types of people for sure. I mean DeAngelo is a what racist who's a jerk and got into locker room fights.

Kane is a vaccine liar, that treats his family obligations as meaningless, and is so toxic in the dressing room that players have basically wanted him out. San Jose players pretty much said they don't want him back.

Now the different might be that Carolina has better coaches, managers and leadership in the room that helps manage Deangelo.

If lets say he goes to Edmonton, they don't seem to have that. So Kane could be a bull in a china shop.

If it is true he is willing to sign a contract for the remainder of the season, there is going to be a team that will justify signing him because if the locker room issues get out of hand they aren't married to him.

Kane largely kept his crap away from the team.

DeAngelo got in a fight in the locker room with a teammate.
