Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but The Hockey Writers suggest that Tre should poll the players on Kane, and if approved, move forward with the trust that Sutter can handle Kane.

I personally think he should be out of the league. He's always been a cancer, and he's obviously never learned his lesson, as he continues his antics. You don't win with a guy like Kane.

I can't stand the 'cancel culture' phrase, makes it sound like innocent people getting crucified over nothing. There's a difference between 'cancel culture' and consequences for your actions. The guy has done stupid and/or illegal things with multiple teams. It's not like people are getting up in arms over a jaywalking ticket.
Fake Vaccine passport is no worse then fake medical exemption documents yet there is far more people with those. You don’t know what documents he has, your only assuming it’s fake vaccine passport because that’s what’s been spewed in the media. He hasn’t been charged with falsify documents last time I checked.

If he has fake vaccination record maybe it’s a medical exception that wasn’t supported by SJS Org. If we learned anything from Eichel, the teams have control over most medical related things once under contract. It’s not illegal to be unvaccinated.

Let’s not turn this into a Vac discussion.

He was suspended 21 games for it. If it was just stuff "spewed from the media", do you not think there would have been a massive fight with the PA?

That being said, as it stands right now, he is not in violation of anything other than his ex-wife's accusations. That is all they are mind you, accusations. No one should lose their employment over anything unproven.

So it comes down to personality/chemistry/fit in a locker room and that's where it gets sticky with him. He has clearly worn out his welcome in 2 stops now, and history suggests that he will do so again. That makes one try and decide risk (behaviour, what he does to team chemistry, etc) vs reward (substantial skill set) and if your team can handle it if things go sideways again.

That's why if you do it, you do a one year deal. Anyone can be on their best behaviour for a few months when getting a big contract depends on it. I would never sign him for anything long term after that since you see how it ends up going, but short term you live with it.

Someone will sign him. Fast, tough, scores lots of goals. Always a market for that.

It’s not a church knitting bee. It’s hockey.

It is a team game not a me game and Kane doesn’t get that.

I agree he finds a home but his day of long term big money etc deals are likely in the past. This guy is over 30 now I wouldn’t be surprised if he is out of the league next year.

I agree with you on the money part. But someone will sign him. Cheap power forward. GMs will be drooling is my bet. Just have to staff up the PR department.

I'm definitely back and forth on this one. Terrible, dumpster-fire of a human and the recent vaccine stuff really pisses me off. But he would fill a pretty big gap on the team and would put up points which we definitely need and cheap, free assets don't come up often.

I don't think he'll ever change but maybe with all the nonsense the past year he realizes that damn, this is my last chance. So he'll still be a douchbag but maybe he can muffle that for a few months cause he knows he needs the contract. Like just sit in the corner and shut up, go out and play hockey how the coach says.

First and foremost I would be asking the players. Have a candid conversation and if the team is on board with trying it out, then you look for a 1-year contract around a million. If the team says no, it's done. If the team says yes, he comes aboard and it seems to be same toxicity and a problem, he can spend the rest of the year in the press box in Stockton.

The team that he does end up signing should acknowledge his personality truthfully in the presser.

"Look, Evander isn't great to be around. He's downright unbearable, quite frankly. I've spoke with him a few times over the past few days and based on those interactions I will not be introducing him to my wife and kids. He's an immature, self-absorbed jackass but let's face facts. Dude can hockey."

Maybe they sign him to a deal for the rest of the year and a promise that if he can turn his life around (or at least make improvements) he will get a longer deal.

Just looking, the last game he played was May 12th. Wonder what kind of condition he is in, and how long it would take to get back. Is this an issue for this season?

He's played games in the AHL this year.

So his agent says there is a lot of interest (yeah, right). Why would he want to play in Canada with higher taxes instead of somewhere in the states. He's got a lotta earnin' to do.

Maybe Canadian team gives him the best offer?

Would absolutely love to see the Oilers give him an Oilers contact. He would destroy that team that is already no good. Imagine them adding ANOTHER selfish player to that roster.

just read on the score that the oilers are "among the teams to kick the tires on Kane"

I hope not.

If he does well there, it would be kinda scary. They're screwed up as it is, let them implode on their own as is.

I'd be worried that Edmonton's interest will trigger Treliving into swooping in to get him instead. See: Versteeg, Kris or Markstrom, Jacob

So I was thinking about this.

Kane would effectively be playing 'for free' as whatever earnings he manages would be assumed by creditors, child support, alimony, etc.

And he is now on the wrong side of 30 for a Professional Athlete.

Maybe he doesnt want to play anymore? He's not going to get to keep his money anyways (unless he goes to Russia) so why put himself through the struggle?

He'll never make enough money to come out the other side with any, he's already going bankrupt and getting divorced.

He could honestly be better off cooling his heels in his mom's basement in Vancouver collecting EI.
