Then it was holding out until a vaccine was available. Then it was seeing how effective vaccines would be and how many doses would be needed. Then it was variants and vaccine efficacy on those variants.

Yes, minor breakthroughs may still happen, but won’t be able to be widespread, and won’t cause ICU collapse.

Plus, we can tweak the vaccines to a new strain (mRNA should be super easy), and get boosters when needed. If 95% of the population does this, getting COVID to something like where Measles is right now shouldn’t be unreasonable.
