Additionally, because of the immune system exposure to these numerous proteins (epitomes), our T cells mount a robust memory, as well. Our T cells are the ‘marines’ of the immune system and the first line of defense against pathogens. T cell memory to those infected with SARSCOV1 is at 17 years and running still.”
However, in vaccine-induced immunity, according to Cole, “we mount an antibody response to only the spike and its constituent proteins.” Cole explained how this produces much fewer neutralizing antibodies, and “as the virus preferentially mutates at the spike, these proteins are shaped differently and antibodies can no longer ‘lock and key’ bind to these new shapes.”

Ada County Commissioners interviewed three doctors Monday to fill an open seat on a regional public health board, one of which has repeatedly spread misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Ryan Cole, an independent pathologist in Garden City, spoke at a conference in Texas late last month dismissing COVID-19 vaccines.
“I don’t even like calling it a vaccine – an investigational vaccine,” Cole said.
Someone in the crowd characterized it as a “fake vaccine.”
“A fake vaccine, OK,” Cole said. “The clot shot, needle rape, whatever you want to call it,” he said to a laughing audience.

"Make the bad germ go away"
This.
This is what pisses me off the most about anti-vaxers.
Yes it's a F***ing bad germ. In fact it's so F****ing bad it's killed 4.3 million people to date.
So instead of helping your fellow man by doing your part and getting vaccinated to help prevent more deaths, you chose not to based on what?.......Facebook posts? YouTube videos? Fox News?
Because fear of being vaccinated is surely not based on science or facts.
Are anti-vaxers just afraid of needles? I just don't get.

Not sure why my ex mod status is relevant at all.
Surely you know how to click on threads that are of interest to you and not click on ones that aren't.
Doesn't seem hard.

Based on my anecdotes, most are just the bozos in your everyday life that think they're smart but everyone else knows better. They'll latch on to anything they perceive as remotely credible. Every week there's a new wing nut doctor they think ought to be running the CDC but is stuck in some backwater state spouting nonsense.
I'm so tired of dealing with this, the pandemic has changed my perception of people in general. There's a baseline 30% that won't be missed by humanity if they self deport from planet earth. Just let the hunger games play out, hope that innocent kids aren't affected and move on. Dying of covid because you're unvaccinated at this point is about as dumb as it gets. This thing evolved into a common sense life test, and there's a bunch of people here who are failing.
I hope the Flames follow the Jets lead.

You know how conversations work, right? You've had them? You start talking about one thing, let's say you're talking about fixing your car with a buddy, and then the conversation moves to the most reliable cars you've had, or whatever. That's how talking with people works. Do you stop every conversation before it moves and say, "hey, that's not what we were talking about, please stop!"
As always, you're free to have whatever conversation you want to have. Don't want to read a conversation you don't like? Then don't. You're an adult. You have that ability (I hope).

The human body is pretty amazing, our immune system works and we live with many viruses because we are exposed to them at younger ages when we are healthy.
I chose to get the vaccine, I'm in my 50's and have one of the common comorbidities that could lead to hospitalization. I have in the past got certain flu vaccines when my premature born child was younger as protection for her, i have not generally taken a flu vaccine in the past few years as I'm not too worried about the flu and they generally guess on the strain in the spring and they usually get lucky but not always, why bother introducing that into my body if it isn't that serious to my health and well being.
I'm not afraid of getting onto a crowded bus with un-vaccinated people, nor would I be getting into a crowded arena with the same people, if I am I guess I don't believe in the vaccine. We appear to be on target for over 75% which is far more than any regular vaccine likely due to the hysteria created by the media and regulatory bodies.
We are not eradicating this virus and it will mutate further just like all viruses. If you are hiding in your home and under the age of 50 without any health issues you are wasting your life. Get vaccinated, this isn't going to kill you, if you unhealthy and older please get vaccinated, this could likely kill you and will at the very least would likely burden the health care with your presence.
If you are healthy and do not wish to get vaccinated I wish you no harm unlike some people on here, lots of Karen's, chances are very good that a high percentage of the 25% that don't get the shot are likely under 50 and healthy or have had the virus already. No need to hate on these people or shame them in any way.
Does a company that is trying to protect its business or a government operated service have the right to ban unvaccinated people from a service, event or business we will see, many court cases to come I'm sure. The question of vaccine passports is going to be front and center for a long time, its a healthy debate, I'm somewhat OK with it from an international travel perspective but not sure I buy into it yet for certain domestic requirements.

That’s a different question though. The Court found in earlier cases that it was not against individual rights to have a vaccine mandate. In the latter case they simply said states could choose not to have such mandates. That is a federalism question.

This thread was like one of those wasp traps with the sticky #### in a deep bag. They all flew in and trapped themselves in their idiocy, even some that hadn't yet outted themselves as utterly selfish ####s (even though it was starting to show through in regular posts too.)

The personal freedoms thing has always been such a stupid argument IMO. The government mandates restrictions for people who can’t keep themselves and others safe all the time. Can’t obey traffic laws? Lose the privilege of driving.
All freedoms with no responsibility is not how basic society with a government works.

The virus is adapting (like the Delta variant) by changing it's spike protein, and that's why the vaccine's are failing against it, even though the virus is 99.9% identical to the original strain, the difference, the spike protein. People that have had some sort of COVID influenza or SARS (2003) previously are finding out that they are also immune from COVID even though those viruses are only 80% or so identical to COVID19 - having Killer T cells recognize some of the proteins on a virus are good enough for your immune system to react to that strain and start the immune response immediately. If you only recognize the spike protein, the protein that varies the most from strain to strain I might add... that's not long lasting immunity. Science.

Got a peer reviewed article to back this info up? You’re right about the mRNA vaccination on protections against the surface protein, but in terms of how natural immunity squares up against vaccination, there simply isn’t enough data to back a strong stance one way or another. Here’s mine:
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/joim.13372
Quote:
Despite these technical limitations, thanks to sero-surveillance, before vaccines were widely distributed, we know that no location worldwide had achieved herd immunity after natural SARS-CoV-2 infection, except perhaps isolated populations or clusters. For example, Manaus, Brazil suffered amongst the highest seroprevalence in response to the first wave of SARS-CoV-2, estimated at greater than two-thirds of the population [207], yet this population was not spared a severe second wave and on-going infection burden.
|
In any case, naturally infecting everyone (which appears to be what you’re advocating for) is such a brain dead way of achieving herd immunity. It increases risks for mutations, puts a strain on our healthcare system, and an archaic way to combat viruses.
