Possibly if it frees up another skilled LW to be packaged for a big fish maybe they are better off on the net return.

It is a concern, as if to say "I" am bigger than the team. Pretty sure we could have made the playoffs if the real MT showed up.

I really don’t get how this is a grey area. Injured, sit. Not injured? Play. If you can play, you’re not injured. But if you are still injured, you shouldn’t be playing. Why is this so hard?
|
Maybe Monahan wouldn't be having all these issues now if we wasn't playing through all those injuries a few years ago. No one knew what was up with him until we find out end of season he needed 4 different surgeries; Yet he still played...

Hopefully we see an exciting draft.
Uncertainty with the picks this year, plus an influx of cap space in the league because of Seattle, and a lot of roster instability due to the expansion draft and the lack of movement the last two years should make for a fun offseason.

If you put him on the top line with Johnny and Lindy then you got Lindy as your right handed shot for that line. The team has been swapping left handed shots in at RW for forever now and it doesnt seem to have bothered them at all.
A guy like Johnny could probably spend more time on the right side, for instance, and it'll force teams to switch up how they defend him and will allow him to get different angles and passing lanes.
I love the way Schwartz plays, and I'd rather go after him than Hyman, but it depends on the contract. The guy seems to have some injury issues over the years, committing long term money to anyone right now seems like a bad idea.

That's a warrior who is willing to put his body on the line for the team. He's a heart and soul guy who never says anything about his injuries, but plays through pain, doing anything he can to help his team win.

But someone flipped a puck at him! From that moment on he basically shut it down for the rest of the season. It's the contrast between the players here that frustrates me. One guy essentially gave his all and the other guy essentially quit on his team. We chastise the former and laud the latter. How times have changed.

Conor Garland is available. Go and get him, Brad. A 25 year old, right handed RW who produces offence and drives possession? Sign me up.

Giordano is gone. Now hoping for 1 of Gaudreau, Backlund, Monahan to go too (if not all).
I would love to see a Monahan for Tarasenko deal. Then teade Gaudreau for a C.. and Backlund for a bag of pucks.

All of that sounds dreadful… I know your half kidding with the bag of pucks line but we need to be getting more out of Monahan and Gaudreau than a banged up, older and more expensive winger and some ‘Center’ for Gaudreau to go along with jettisoning Backlund into the sun… like they do have value too, we want to try and at least laterally trade them if we have to trade them… certainly not lose them for nothing like a certain top pair D from a couple years back.
I get the frustration with the GM but the lack of respect I see given to some of these top tier players we have is sad to see.

Critical period for the team. With the loss of Gio there are only 4 players who have been on this team since 2016. I think we see more turnover which basically will be the 2.0 version of Treliving’s Flames.

There’s enough talent here seemingly to ‘reload’ though it feels strange saying that with this team because they really didn’t accomplish anything which is usually how I interpret that term; a team ‘Reloading’ would be a recently successful team with a good amount of the core still intact from the successful years that’s adding to try and push that core a little longer.
No success that’s truly noteworthy just a lot of shocking disappointment but the main parts of the core are still intact so it’ll be interesting to see how he approaches it. He no doubt has to be aggressive though because his clock and window are now audibly ticking, this off-season and season are critical for Treliving… and it petrifies me.

I just watched the TSN hit on the expansion draft. Dreger mentioned that Treliving is one of the more creative GM’s and working on a few things.
I feel like there is going to be a 3-4 team blockbuster the Flames are involved in I suspect it will be Tkachuk.

My guesses
Think we see Monahan for Dvorak, 2021 Coyotes second round pick.
Tkachuk for Tarasenko, Thomas, Blues 2021 first pick.
Pitlick for 4th or something
Saad signs 6 years 6.5M
Martinez signs 3 years 5.5M
Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tarasenko
Magnipane - Dvorak - Saad
Dube - Backlund - Thomas
Lucic - Pitlick - Ritchie
Tanev - Hanifin
Anderson - Martinez
Stone - Valimaki

Trading Tkachuk for an older, oft injured Tarasenko, an overrated Thomas and a weak 1st is not bad?
Damn how we turn on our guys so quickly.
I wish we would stop trading Tkachuk, Gaudreau and Monahan for downgrades in all the proposals I’ve seen over and over again.
The grass isn’t always greener guys.
