That could be something that EDM considered before acquiring him. I don’t think it’s very likely he retires though.

Kevin Lowe hasn't done a presser since the train wreck of a "something about winning". It got him too close to the front lines of seen to be responsible. He pushed McT and Chia and now Holland out to face the media ever since to answer the bell, but gave and gives each their exact talking points for the pressers. Even if it's against those employees better judgement, they have to toe the line.
Hardware and silverware is all that matters to Lowe and it has to be front and center when talking about any player they acquire.

Clearly Ken got his talking points today from the same set of power point slides from Lowe that the rest of the Edmonton media got distributed back on June 30th. Hilarious.

And Stauffer pulls these ideas out of mid air? Unlikely. That was on page 8 of the slides but only he was allowed to see and disseminate this time around. Certainly Gregor is obviously in the bad books to not see page 8 of the slide package and looks foolish now given his tweets at the time.

I didn't realize the Oilers turned Holland into a doll and Lowe picked up ventriloquism over the pandemic. Impressive.

And wow, Chelios is a what, a 1 in 1000 example when it comes to career longevity?

This feels like a deal that made sense for the Oilers if Kostinem was going the other way but then Holland fell in love with getting the deal done
