Yeah I got confused, because I saw Backlund plow Russell in the corner but they called the penalty after he knocked down JP and I thought they just got the call wrong. Figured it should have been cross-checking.

Because he lives in Calgary. I know several people that have seasons that are not Flames fans.

So Khaira is not getting a hearing for the headshot? What is the rule and what does the league want out of the game?

There are also a few "celebrities" that buy them and donate them to charities. Ron MacLean, Don Cherry, and Trevor Linden have all "owned" Flames season tickets and I doubt any of them are Flames fans.

Khaira was tried in the court of Sutter. Judge Ritchie found him guilty as charged and sentenced him to a round of KTFO therapy.

It came out a few times in broadcasts as well: most notably, it was in the first game of the 2006–07 season that Hrudey declared that he "love[d] this team!" And he is the one who made the infamous "+300-goals!" prediction. (Good one, Kelly.)
However, Hrudey is a consummate professional, and I think that the permanent move to the Flames broadcast likely prompted him to quell a lot of his earlier enthusiasm, which he has done so effectively as to convince everyone that he is actually an unabashed Flames homer. I do wonder if his allegiances may have invariably shifted though as a result of all the time he spends covering the Flames. Hopefully, yes.

The Oilers do make it hard not to hate them after all .

Kassian drawing back in tomorrow, assume he will want a go at Ritchie. I felt bad for Khaira, I would have a hard time feeling bad for Kassian in the same situation.

As silly as this sounds, the league probably figured since he got his head bashed in minutes later, they won't discipline him and will just let it go.
Only explanation I can think of since it was a DIRECT hit to the head.

I hope there is discipline from the league on that hit. Cannot let that crap go unpunished.
Even if he got his head smashed in during the fight.

Pretty much guaranteed that's what the league is thinking. Which reiterates that they are a bush league when it comes to protecting players' health and don't really care about brain trauma or dirty play. Embarrassing if true.

Well, Kylington did finish the game.
If he was injured, I may expect a closer look

"This team sucks! I hate what Treliving has done! They're so loyal to a bad coach like Ward! This team needs Sutter back and they never will so we will alw.... They what? Oh... I'm... I'm so happy. Yeah happy. Can't believe they did that... I don't know how to be happy? What do I do? I... what the hell is that ice? Jesus Christ, this ice is just the worst. Treliving is just not doing what he needs to do on this ice issue. He's terrible."

If the league doesn't issue anything for the Khaira hit, then they are accepting it. It's like they want the next game to get out of hand with psychopath Kassian coming back tomorrow.
It shouldn't matter if Ritchie took out the trash already.

Caught a few players doing this. I wonder if it was a specific tip/trick/play that Sutter has been talking to them about. Hanifin did a very similar play to get out of the zone in the 3rd.

Kassian won't do anything, he's a spot fighter. Richie happily punch him back to the stone age where he belongs.

Yeah it would be Kassian first game back after he got injured in a fight. Can't see him squaring up first game back and risk getting injured again. Oilers fans are dreaming thinking he will make a big difference in physicality. Dude will probably be a ghost.
