DeAngelo was waived on Monday and none of the teams wanted him. Why would the Flames trade assets now for that problem of a player?

nhltraderumors added New York Rangers to list of teams inquiring about Bennett, along with Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, and Toronto Maple Leafs.

I understand how trades work, but by the sounds of the tweet posted, a trade has already been agreed upon just not announced.

I think the deal is done, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Vancouver, rangers, or Pittsburgh.

How about Owen Tippett?
RW scorer
Hasn't been able to stick in the NHL yet.

I'd be pretty happy with that, I'd expect a mid round pick tossed in by the flames

What is keeping from the NHL? AHL stats are good.

I'm guessing because teams might need to move out money/contracts to be able to add him.

Those 5 guys right there is more truculence than what the Flames have now.
The Lightning were soft for years and went out and got tough and won the cup.
The Leafs have been soft for years and this offseason went out and got Simmonds, Bogosian and Thornton.
It's been a key ingredient for decades yet some posters on this board keep ignoring it and wanting the Flames to go all skill and small.

Gee, I thought they won because Kucherov, Hedman, Cirelli, Point etc., had dominating playoffs. But I guess it was their number 7 defenceman and other plugs won it for them.

Could end up being a tweener. Strong AHL production but can't replicate at the NHL level.
But it's a change of scenery type of deal. Stick him on the wing on one of the top 2 lines and give him some PP time and see what happens.

Remember when the Flames drafted Eric Nystrom 10th overall and then we watched him develop for three long years in college before having him play five mediocre seasons in Calgary and then leaving as a free agent, Sam Bennett is at the same stage of his career now, at least the Flames will receive something useful back this time...

Bennett + + + for a struggling Zibanejad... Please?
Or, more realistically, I'd be ok with a Bennett + for Buchnevich or even Kakko... Maybe my fantasy team has me watching too many Rangers games

Guys on the fan seem pretty certain that is case.
Obviously Treliving either is getting offers he is ready to move forward with or this has become too big of a distraction and they want to distance Sam from the main squad.
