6 or 7 years at $6M still doesn’t strike me as “off” in any way.

Why do people expect the #1 goalie in free agency to sign for below market value as a UFA? It's not going to be a steal of a deal... no UFA signing is

Not terrifying in the least. Finally shore up a position that has been an issue for about a decade? Pay the man.
That all being said. I'm looking forward to hearing the guys on 960 Monday. Pining for Markstrom but we'll see if their opinion changes if this looks like a gross overpay to them.

Holtby for 2 years and $4.3M per seems like it is.

also, what's our fix for goaltending if not Markstom? Trade for fleury (does not seem to have his game anymore and a high cap hit) or sign crawford (always injured), or greiss (to me not a proven #1 that can get you far)
Obviously our last decade of goaltending of not trying to have a top 5-10 goalie in the league has been working out

It's like everyone has just completely forgotten about Bob; since that signing, the goalie market seems like it has reset a little bit, but I can't imagine Markstrom gets within $3 million/ year of that ugly boat anchor.

Honestly the only real plan B for me is a Kuemper trade. anything else is another failure to address the goalie issue

If Hall is in, Gaudreau is out. We likely take on a contract coming back, but it should be low enough and at another position that we should be okay. Gaudreau to Philly for Gostisbehere, Frost and a 1st in 2021. I think we're good after that. If not, Ryan get's given away for nothing.
