Kinda different though. His high danger scoring chance save percentage is poor to mediocre. And the Flames are in the bottom 3rd of the league for giving them up.
It would be like if his shooting percentage is high but he never gets shots off.
I generally understood that you figured he didn’t make big saves (which I think isn’t true). I just thought it was a funny statement.

Wow this calls for a ATL its so salty in Shelbyville over the Markstrom rumours.
Spoiler!

I really hope Markstroms career cratars just like Schneiders did.

First OEL and now Markstrom. Who's next?
Quote:
It’s the fact that he’s willing to sign in Calgary but not here that annoys me, lol.
Quote:
Meh, f*** him. The Flames can have him.
Quote:
Still annoying. Apparently he doesn’t want to sign with a rebuilding team or a B market team. We know which one Detroit is. Which one does he consider Edmonton? Or is it both?
Quote:
The Flames problems are not in net anyway. Their forward group and Giordano are gutless and shrink in the playoffs. Monahan is a fraud who isn't even a no.2 C come playoff time. Their best player for both the last two post-seasons was their goalie, if they want to overpay on that position, good luck with that.
Quote:
I wonder if word is beginning to circulate around the league that Edmonton is a place where goaltenders are left out to dry.
Quote:
Thank Chiarelli for this mess
Quote:
Twits like OEL and Markstrom think Edmonton is such a poor market can have their Canucks and Flames. They aren’t interested in winning. Just money and lifestyle. So f*** them.
Quote:
The thing that annoys me is that Calgary shouldn’t be associated with money and lifestyle anymore than Edmonton. It’s an optics issue that this organization needs to change.
Quote:
I don't know but he just gave the Oilers bulletin board material everytime they play him, if calling the city a "B" market is taken how it sounds. I know Edmonton will never compare to LA, NYC, etc. but in no way is a city 2.5 hours away with a steadily declining downtown vacancy a full letter grade above Edmonton. I hope they light his ass up from here on out, wherever he plays.
Quote:
Seems like Edmonton is constantly disrespected from all angles, the league, media, fans, players. Hopefully the disrespect can put a chip on the guys on this teams shoulders, the fact that even with two of the best in the world, everyone treats you as a laughingstock.
Quote:
Jesus Christ, Edmonton is getting freaking hammered the last few days. Honestly, is the city really that god awful? I mean, you have two of the best players in the league, a brand new state of the art arena and a team that was vastly improved this season and players still want to avoid this place like the plague. Is Calgary really that much nicer? I always knew that Edmonton was low on the destination list but this is brutal.
Quote:
The fact that the city isn't the greatest and we have 2 of the bet in the world and are still barely relevant, why would players lineup to come here? Maybe guys don't like Tippets style too?
Quote:
I can't think of any good free agents the Flames have signed in recent history. How do we know they don't see Edmonton and Calgary as equally undesirable? You can read 'Markstrom has Edmonton and Detroit on his no-sign list' as 'Markstrom has ONLY Edmonton and Detroit on his no-sign list' if you want.
Quote:
I'm not expecting players to line up to come to Edmonton, ever really, but they're being singled out as a "don't want to go there" place the last few days while Calgary is a destination at least in Markstrom's case? Is it really the water?
Quote:
Think the Markstrom story is probably BS. It's from a radio personality in Vancouver who's a known attention whore. You don't need a list of no-gos even as a UFA. Even if he didn't want to come here his agent would not want a list or anything like that because he can use every market to get leverage for a deal like "oh Vancouver you're only offering 5 per, well Edmonton just offered us 5.5", that sort of thing. OEL bit is legit, but that's fair for him, he signed a long term deal in Arizona, if he's moving to a different market it means he taking a pay cut (a significant one) to go somewhere else because of the tax difference. He is within his rights to pick and choose where he wants to be.

This is the one I question:

They have to realize it's not just an optics issue. It's also an auditory issue (fart noises), olfactory issue (the smell of the farts), a tactile issue (the feeling of the wind created by the farts), and a gustatory issue (the smell of the farts).
They've got a long way to go, as E will always equal NG.

No, read the comment about the vacancy rates. The Loil literally have it ingrained in their mind that edmonton is a superior city to Calgary in every way. They are in for a world of pain as the service economy, government economy, and oil economy are all going for a simultaneous collapse.

Simply put, Kevin Lowe has poisoned both the Air and the Water, and probably the soil in Edmonton. His toxicity is a gift that keeps on giving.

If by 'winning' you mean 'missed the playoffs for 13 out of 14 years, and have the worst record in the NHL by a large margin over the last decade', then yes, they are not interested in winning.

LeBrun on TSN says Calgary is one of his wild card teams for the offseason. Based on conversations with other GMs, Treliving has his hands in everything.

I honest to god hope he does. Nothing would make me happier. But I have seen this play before. I know what happens in the next act.
Oh every time I think we're done...
Not for debate sake, but do you not see the difference in his game in these past playoffs as a point of hope? I know he's played well in the playoffs before (from the perspective of his limited role), but this one struck me as different - not only because he was at centre, but also he just impacted the play in a way we hadn't seen before. I thought the chemistry between he, Lucic and Dube was something that would start to win you over.
In years past in the playoffs he's kinda just smashed in the corners and crashed the net while playing down the line-up on the wing - and because of that effort he's gradually been moved up the line-up to try and help get his teammates engaged more. This time though he was at centre (and playing with one good arm), making plays in the neutral zone, generating chances with speed, laying people out physically and above all else he did it consistently for 10 games, not a small 4 or 5 game series.
You don't see any reason for optimism/you don't see any differences in his play in the playoffs year to year?

Excited to see what comes of all of this. We've heard rumours all over the place. I hope next week delivers!
