The fact that multiple reports have linked each of the bg three to Calgary I think shows that there is likely mutual interest from all parties; I think that suggests that the odds are decidedly a lot higher than single-digit.

We're simply quantifying our personal opinions on the likelihoods of them signing. Just for the sake of discussion.
You're right, it's not accurate at all, but none of our predictions are.
At the end of the day, the Flames are one of the few playoff teams that potentially have the cap space to sign one of the big three. This fact alone makes them contenders for all of them.

Laine is a very good forward but Gaudreau is more dynamic and makes linemates better.

True.
But that magnifies Calgary’s offensive problems, especially in the playoffs.
Johnny is simply too easy to neutralize.
He may be a better player today, but he is 5 years older and is trending down. That alone would potentially make him more attractive to some teams.
But I am not a Laine fan.

I'm sure you will all taunt and boo me until your throats are sore, but I'd lean towards Holtby, because I think you're likely to save on AAV and/or term, and he actually has a history of playoff success.
Then again I'd still rather wait until the music stops and take the best option remaining...ideally getting Fleury/Lundqvist/Rask for free/cheap/accompanied sweetener.

Played together on the WJC team, and some OHL all-star teams.
Maybe Flames go for the Parise/Suter like move and try to sign both free agents.

We might even manage to win 2 playoff series in their tenure here like the Wild did...which would be an improvement for us

Let's not get crazy. My expectation is that the Flames win three playoff games next year. Baby steps.

There is a reason Holtby will be cheap...guy is done
Markstrom is far and away the best goalie available if he goes to market...you have to at least take a shot

Calgary is a great place to raise a family if you’re middle-class. But most big American cities are better if you’re rich like an NHL player. It’s not as though these guys or their families are ever going to be taking public transit, live in an average neighbourhood, or go to an average public school. They live in a completely different world from you or I.
Every major city in the U.S. has a few enclaves where rich people people live, shop, play golf, go to restaurants, and send their kids to school. And those enclaves are nicer than anywhere in Calgary. Because the whole purpose of America’s hyper-capitalism is to make it an awesome place to be rich.

There are many rich people, who include hockey players, who simply don't agree with or even condone that level of elitism.
The fact is, many players have chosen to live in Calgary. It can happen. It might not be a preferred destination for the majority, but it is a destination for some.

Troy Brouwer is gonna make his biggest contribution as a Flame by talking up Calgary to Pietrangelo and getting him to sign here.

Of course, this all presumes that everyone has the same jaded elitist view of what constitutes a great place for raising a family. I suspect the matter is much more nuanced even among the super-rich.

I'd even sign Brouwer as the 13th forward if it meant Pietrangelo signed here.

This is the first year in a while where I feel Calgary might have a shot at getting one of the best free agents on the market. All three of the guys being discussed definitely could make an impact and command starting spots on the roster. A case could be made for each one of TH, AP, and JM to come here as other people have pointed out, and if that is the case you could fit all three of them while moving some guys out, you do it.
The Flames need change. The fans want change. If it doesn't work out, that sucks, but at least they went for it. I would place my faith back into the Flames management if they just had the balls to make some groundbreaking moves.
However, the last time a team got the top two free agents on the market it was the ludicrous contracts of Parise and Suter. Of course Minnesota was not in a power position in the league at that time, so I think that's why they had to go balls to the wall signing those two guys. Calgary is a team that is just on the edge of being contenders year after year, but they are missing that spark that makes the engine fire at a consistent rate.

I have to say that after Brouwer, Neal, and at two more UFA scores whose names I can’t recall I really don’t trust that any big money ufa’s are worth it! What’s the percentage of ufa’s that are actually worth it when they get paid. The league is literally drowning in bad contracts! And that’s my rant. I’m now prepared to take my rebuttal beating lol.

Taylor Hall. I like the odds of Calgary getting him, but I don't think you can have Tkachuk, Gaudreau and Hall in the top 6. Someone's got to go, and it doesn't seem like Matthew Tkachuk is going anywhere soon.
Alex Pietrangelo. Not really what the Flames need right now, but at the same time when Giordano is gone (or declines eventually) he can be the defenseman Calgary can rely on for their window. If you can get him under the cap, do it.
Jacob Markstrom. I'm on the fence with him, but he carried a young Canucks team all season and further. I would consider him a slight upgrade on Rittich or Talbot (whoever they need to move out). Darcy Kuemper also wouldn't be bad, but all of this seems lateral as the real focus should be on building a coherent group in front of the goaltender first.

Ottawa's Pierre Dorion spoke to the media ahead of the NHL Draft, where he admitted that he's studying possible trades, but it "has to make sense."
I'd love to see Tre acquire one of Ottawa's 1st rounders.

Y'all we only have one RHD signed next year, and while I love Ras he is probably best suited on a second pairing for another year. Also Gio has already declined from being a true #1 d man in the league as we saw frequent examples of last season and through the playoffs.
Pietro is unquestionably what the flames need most right now, and I can't take any other arguments seriously. We can't run with a top 4 of Gio-Andersson Hanifin-Valimaki next season unless we are rebuilding.

Yeah who needs a top 5 in the league dman...and slight upgrade! Markstrom would be a massive upgrade.
I get the feeling some of you didn't watch many Canucks games this season
