I just want Don Cherry to say something like "I would never use a word like that, I understand how you people would feel if I did."
Getting low on outrage and need a boost? I don't know why anyone would want him to say that. Why not focus on what people are actually saying. Its all the boost you will need.
Here is what grinds my gears on this whole thing.
1. Why has it taken 10 years for Alu (sp) to bring this up? Is he looking for some kind of payday?
2. If there were incidents in Carolina....why did they not address it at the time?
The Flames are taking their time to sort through everything, which is fine. Peters actions have ensured he will have a very hard time ever coaching again
To me he should be fired because it happened. I think most agree.
My problem is the whole 'he apologized for the incident 10 years ago.' One side is lying, and to me the whole thing stinks now.
Well, it's definitely always been stinky! But that's really the only cause for pause I have here too... and I think there's a bunch out there that are waiting before we launch into evaluating what to do with Bill Peters. Will be interesting to hear what comes out of that meeting with the NHL
I think we can all agree that if the dust settles, and Akim's allegation of the events is 100% accurate we are right to resume "get him the hell out of here", and "why-oh-why did we ever have to encounter him". Again, someone please educate me if I'm wrong, but the corroboration from 2 teammates was that the incident happened. The details, actions taken, etc, etc could alter *to me* who 2019 Bill Peters is.
So I'm clear, even if it was the most innocent and apologized for offence... I still do have a hard time seeing him as the Calgary Flames coach with this mud on him. But, even this story coming out has provided a few examples of people I very much respect stupidly stumbling over how to handle the n-word. To be entirely honest, I haven't much loved some people's attempts to censor the word in these threads.
So we're all standing in the same camp. I promise. I hope this post doesn't make some people uneasy about posting amongst Flames fans anymore...

He said why - initially he was a rookie and about backlash. He also saw what happened to Kapernick later. And he came forward now because of Commodore's tweets about Babcock.
They said they dealt with incidents in Carolina internally. BrindAmour confirmed they took place.

This almost needs a sticky at the top with an FAQ of commonly accepted viewpoints. Same questions over and over same answers, same outrage. No growth or learning.

Yeah, the fact that the issues in Carolina got buried as well is pretty sad especially if the owner said he would have sacked Peters instantly.
Do we believe the owner would have fired him immediately? That seems like a convenient position to take. I hope that is true but if it came down to paying severance I wonder what would have happened in the moment.

Did Brind'Amour confirm the incident with Aliu took place while in Rockford?
I thought Brind'Amour was only confirming the other two alleged incidents happened that took place with players while Peters was coaching the Hurricanes.
Sorry... I just can't get on board with pummeling someone for doing something that, while it may be wrong... can't be wrong for only some of us.
Anyone who has heard Rap knows the N word is ubiquitous as well as sexual references that denigrate and marginalize.
How is it that Bill is not allowed to complain about that sort of content being brought into his dressing room but others are defended for their right to blast it out without regard.
Jesus Christ stop painting all "rap" with one brush. Some black hip hop artists use the word in their lyrics, and some black artists don't. Just like in life, some black people use the word and some opt not to. It's not a hip hop thing. Just like it's not a comedy thing because you might hear comedians say it. It's also not for anyone except black people to judge if/when it's right or wrong to use the term.
The only thing that's cut and dry is that if you're not black, you don't use the word or think the word, ever. In literally any situation. In literally any context. It's really easy and simple.

“The Flames have to do their due diligence here. They have to make sure, as best they can, they determine whether Bill Peters said what he said. Now, Bill Peters seemed to concede (in his letter Wednesday) that he used that language, but now the Flames need to just figure out, ‘OK, is there enough here from a legal standpoint, as well, to fire him without paying him out?’ That is, to allege just cause. If they fire him without cause, then they would owe him what is left on his deal.”
Peters is believed to be signed through the end of next season at a salary of approximately $2 million per year.
“If (Treliving) went in and fired him merely based upon an allegation, and the allegation turns out to be wrong, then Bill Peters could sue for defamation, plus what is owed on his deal, plus loss of future earnings. It would be a multi-million-dollar proposition for Bill Peters,” Macramalla said. “So as an employer, you do what every employer does — you do it the right way. And it takes time. This is going quickly, but you still have to make sure that you have all your ducks in a row before you do something as dramatic as firing somebody.”

Many fans have questioned whether the Flames can fire their coach based on an incident that occurred a decade ago in another league and while he was working for another organization.
“In a case like this, it really doesn’t matter,” Macramalla answered. “The ‘N’ word is so toxic and so damning that the Flames can allege that your use of that word, even though it was 10 years ago, has brought our organization into disrepute, has made our lives very difficult and makes it unable for you to lead.

What grinds my gears is that Peters is a racist who has ###### in his lexicon.

It's only been three days. Not everyone has read every single post on the topic or participated in the conversation yet that will.
Well then that's okay, rather than reading the thread it's obviously most beneficial for them to Kramer into the latest page of discussion to drop a steaming hot take that re-warms a 10 page old stale turd.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Kramering into anything in my view.
Maybe lock the door instead if you don’t like it.
