Well if he’s fired, he doesn’t know it yet. Trying to walk that line.

Hmm interesting. Didn't Aliu say there was no apology or mention of it again afterwards?

If he apologised to the team why hasn't any of his players at the time spoken up and said as much?

Maybe they have, just the media outlet hasn’t told you that part yet.

Like any story there will be two sides. But when one side drops the N word at work, I suppose most people (justifiably so) aren’t terribly willing to listen to that side

Damn media, always biased against the white man yelling vile racist terms at minorities. #RacistsLivesMatter

I wonder if this letter is intended to protect himself from being outright fired. No acknowledgement of ongoing other issues, and the mention of "a decade ago" in the very first sentence seem intentional.
I suspect he was guided, by his attorneys, to apologize in this manner to put on the record what he is acknowledging and the fact it happened 10 years ago with a different team.
The apology should have ended with his offer to resign.

This directly contradicts a piece of Aliu’s story, that he called him into his office and repeated the offensive statement, doesn’t it? The part where it’s one persons word against another with no witnesses, naturally.

Huh, the Flames and their representatives have probably spoken to as many people they can that were around the Chicago Wolves at the time of the incident. This is not about what is presented in the media anymore.

That's the other side. And I'm not sure how to take that. You have 3 players saying the exact opposite. Peter's was unapologetic and he says he was. Who's telling the truth?

Yeah as apologies go, I’ve seen better. Some carefully chosen words to be sure.

He lost me at “I meant no disrespect”.

As others have pointed out, no direct apology to Aliu in that statement.

Saying he went back into the room and apologized is interesting. Hasn’t been mentioned (as far as I’ve seen) by any of the witnesses, and will clearly be disputed by said witnesses if it’s not true.

Oh and, the N word is the very basis for disrespect. I'll always believe that, always have.

Also he sent it to Francis.
Trying to manage the narrative and get ahead of things.
Not impressed.
And he also sends it during the Flames game?
Smells rotten.

the media may not always be right but they only ever have one side of the story, the side where they tell as much of the story as they can in order to get eyes on their copy, if they knew that peters had farted or was wearing plaid socks they would have reported it.

It disturbs me that we live in an age where people honestly think the media is part of some deep state conspiracy to inflict gay values on good Christian white folks or some other weird right wing/Russian sales pitch.

So there’s this thing called twitter. It allows the actual people involved to communicate exactly what they want without a filter of the media.

See, the initial claim and many of the subsequent claims come directly from the people in the room when it happened. On Twitter. There is no media bias or filter.

That you spin this as media bias blows me away. You seriously need to start thinking for yourself. Blindly repeating the talking points you see on tv or Facebook is a terrible look...
