I think anger at Peters is misplaced. He probably didn’t even write the letter. Be mad at the lawyers and legal system. Even though I want him gone, it isn’t my money so I don’t care if he gets severance. I can hardly fault the guy for following the legal process.
Could he just have resigned and left quietly? Sure but this may be the last big pay check of his life and I have no idea as to his financial situation. I don’t blame him for wanting all the legal severance he’s due.

Seems like the witnesses already confirmed. Peters is grasping at straws.

He could have done this yesterday, he could have done this tomorrow? The letter stinks, the timing stinks, this whole thing stinks.

Yes. To the player(s) directly and immediately, not 10 years later when guys had to call you out on it

I'm no apologist to any of these bums who do this thing, but realistically, isn't he entitled to his money? If I'm Peters, I'm fully arguing for my money when all is said and done because the incident was 10 years ago. I wonder however, if the more recent Hurricane's incident is playing more into the lawyers stuff as that was a physical encounter in the same league probably within the past two years.

Agreed, but he also stated he walked right back to the room after being challenged and apologized. If that's true, there should be witnesses. If there won't be any, he is either lying or has no support from his ex-players, which kind of tells us something about him...

Doesn't make him less of a ###### for saying it to begin with, but if he apologized well than part of the allegations were completely misleading.
|
It’s still not strange that he has his side of the story. I guess if some players come out and say he never apologized it might signal that he was lying for the sake of trying to maximize his severance. In that case I’d say he’s deserves a ton of criticism. Or he knows that it turns his side into being more sympathetic and becomes a he said/he said story and not so cut and dry as it seemed.

If they have to pay him, they should take a page from the show Silicon Valley and re-assign him to his new position and workspace on the roof of the Saddledome.

I'm not sure there's anything wrong with the legal system here.
But you can be mad at the lawyers, that seems like a pretty poorly drafted letter. Even the "decade ago" thing could have been followed by an "I have grown as a person since then" type of statement, to make it sound less like he's trying to dismiss the event because it was a long time ago.

The guy is just doing what his legal team is encouraging him to do. Plus, like Burke said, he is going to have to speak sometime and at the end of the day making a public apology is better than not making one

He was in Buffalo yesterday. Not in Calgary with his lawyer. He might have been fired by tomorrow.
What does it even matter that it came out during the game? It’s not like they put it up on the jumbo Tron. Francis is the one who posted it during the game. Maybe he should have waited until after if it’s so disrespectful.

I bet there’s a kernel of truth. I bet it was something like “Hey guys, Dowling says some of you didn’t like what I said before. Sorry if you were offended. I didn’t think it was bad”. So not an apology to Ali, and a non-apology”.
