That’s my point. It is my personal view.

That’s the difference that some people don’t understand.

What if my personal view was that people who aren’t white shouldn’t live in Canada, does that make me a bad person?

Answer: yes. Yes it does.

Your traditional view of marriage is an outdated construct. Open your mind and realize that the position against it, is a morally regressive one.

I also don't see this as a hug loss for the CP. They gained a lot of seats and can be a strong opposition. Trudeau is going to need them to get some things and I am sure they will use that to their benefit.

As long as they can behave like adults of course.
Almost no chance this means another election. a very strong minority with 3-4 opposition parties to play off each other. The Bloc is sitting near their max reachable seats. The NDP has shaky leadership, and even the conservatives have some belly gazing to do, all 3 of those parties will have to wonder if they are better off using the Liberals minority status to get concessions.

This government has a much much better chance than I would have expected to stand for 4 years.

I don't feel many foreign governments are competent enough currently to do so.

No, the answer the poster gave was just fine. I wanted to see what their position was. I actually didn’t have an agenda there.

“Social Justice hammer”? I suspect you don’t know my politics at all.

Rosie is kind of shameless, why are you handing Goodale a Senate seat as some kind of consolation for the West. People here are sick of Liberal token gestures.

Personal opinions aside must say the fact we are even discussing gay marriage is exactly the conservatives problem...Why? Why take a stance like this on social issues? All you do is alienate a large segment of the population and for what? Its not like strong social conservatives are gonna vote for someone else.

Well said. There are such things as bad personal views and beliefs in today's society.

40 years ago, it would have been "well I just don't believe in inter racial marriage".

The point was that when the poster said he/she had a view but didn’t discriminate, I wanted to see what that meant in practice.

So my choices were:

1. Vote for the party that best represents my values.

2. Vote for a party that best represents a contradiction of my values.

3. Not vote.

I'm satisfied with my decision and will continue to hold the party accountable in ongoing and alternative ways. If you refuse to recognize a layered perspective then I'm comfortable concluding our exchange.

So with the Liberals back in power, does this mean the carbon tax moves back into Alberta?

That’s not what I said. I said that your view of marriage and has a pretty serious impact on people YOU don’t agree with. Whereas the opposite literally has no impact on you at all. See the difference?
