The NDP and AP votes should be flipped what is wrong with people.

Strategic voting. Most don't care about the candidate in their riding.

I think people vote against things and vote strategically too much. I certainly have been guilty of this in the past. Voting against your fears rather than voting for what you want leads to the two parties dominating.

Hahaha holy ####, I'm watching CTV, and the Liberals' campaign manager just admitted he's only paying attention to Mountain View and has really just tried to win that one riding.

If there was any doubt that the Alberta Liberals are a sham and that it's just a platform for David Khan at this point, you can remove said doubt.

I think many people looking to vote AP or Liberal may have been afraid of splitting the vote so they went to their next best party.

It has really interested me to see across the internet how anyone who discussed voting for someone other than the NDP or UCP got trashed for throwing away their vote and/or contributing to splitting the vote.

It's sadly just a consequence of the way our system works. People don't vote for who they believe in the most, they just vote for whoever has the best chance of defeating the person they dislike the most

Well it clearly indicates the UCP is gathering loads of votes from the progressive side of the spectrum, not just the right. The entire fear and smear campaign was a total disaster.

If they are able to effectively govern from the center, this could be the beginning of another decades long political dynasty.

Well I think this tracked pretty much to some of the polls, though the 50+% of the popular vote is pretty surprising.

I believe that a big part of this is obviously economic, people are tired of feeling like a whipping boy to the rest of the country, and didn't buy into the NDP campaign platform that didn't seem to resonate.

At the same time, the NDP campaign I thought was poorly run, I think that the negative Kenney is evil and mean campaign just didn't resonate with people, and its not the first time, we've found that in terms of campaigns that are focused on individual bashing fails more often or not. Wynne in Ontario focused on attacking Doug Ford and lost, Hillary focused on bashing Trump and alienated the voting base. Harper same thing with Trudeau.

I also think that sadly the Alberta Party really failed in their campaign, they just didn't get any kind of beach head, I also thought that their communications strategy was really lacking.

This is pretty much a white wash result, The NDP really didn't gain anything and lost quite a bit moreso cabinet members then seats.

One of my former players that I coached ran in this election and won her seat and I'm absolutely thrilled for her. Congratulations Whitney, not bad for a defensive halfback.

I appreciate your optimism, but let’s pump the brakes on prognosticating the next few decades before day 1.

For the Liberals I believe so. Not sure about the AP. I knew that lots of Albertans would be voting UCP but I think credit has to be paid to Notley and the NDP as their campaign was effective at generating support from people that may have been on the fence as well as votes based out of fear and their effectiveness was probably at the cost of the AP.

Exactly. Besides, haven't there been a ton of concerns about vulnerabilities in American polling machines? I don't think pen and paper is obsolete at all -- it's far more difficult to manipulate.

I wanted to vote AP but their candidate in my riding was terrible. Ran as a liberal last election and lost, performed terribly in a candidate forum, and didn't really know much about his own party's platform.
