This was perfect and classy, frankly I hate it when teams cram their retired player into a uniform or a jersey and it just makes them look old.
I remember watching the Grant Fuhr one and it looked like somebody had squeezed 20 pounds of ground beef into a sausage skin.
Iggy's ceremony was great, classy, dignified and that Lanny narration was chillingly good.

Lanny and Jarome have a similar place in the hearts of the city's hockey fans. No disrespect to any other player past or present, but that kind of attachment to an athlete by the broader population is rare.
Fleury had it too in some ways, despite himself.
Ceremonies like these are for the player and the fans. By all accounts, Flames got it right.

Theo lives in Calgary and yet he wasn't invited. That has to tell you something about Theo as a player and his relationship with the Flames organization.

If he is, he's somewhere in the stands because his name or presence was never even whispered.

Hardly the time or place for discourse as this is Iggy's night, but regardless of his off-ice issues with the organization Fleury deserved a place here tonight to honour his friend and teammate.
(And for the record, so did Kipper, who I imagine declined because he's too busy ice fishing in some remote forest in northern Finland)

He's in England, I also understand that he doesn't really like public appearances. Also why take the risk of getting boo'd during the ceremony.
He's probably out fishing for the legendary dragon vampire fish of the goomogaknife Fjord with Kipper.

ugh of course I missed it. There goes a months worth of hype for nothing. Hopefully FlamesTV or youtube will have the entire thing later on tonight to watch after the game.

Yeah, he just can't seem to remove that foot from his mouth. No one has ever worn #14 since he's left. Maybe one day we'll see #14 raised from the rafters.

Not really, except for Mikey and Lanny, they focused around the team mates that Iggy had during the cup run.
I'm glad they didn't do an Edmonton and invite 5000 alumni members. This was perfect.
Don't read anything into it.

You've got old news on that one. The reason he wasn't out on the ice was likely because he wasn't a huge part of Iggy's career being traded so soon after. He was in the building.
Fleury has been diligently mending his relationship with the Flames in the past couple years. He's been spotted at the Dome more and more as the days go by, mingling with players and staff.
He'll get his day.

I feel worst for my Dad, he was really looking forward to seeing it. Guess I'll have to find it on Flames TV later.
