Smith is unreliable at home. Doesn't make the needed saves. It deflates the team.

To make a run at playoffs, we will need Smith to be on his game. We saw what happened last year when we relied on Riddich. Riddich could falter just as easy as Smith picking it up so I like that he is keeping them both in the game right now.

Smith has been on a pretty consistent "low" since halfway through last season though...

I guess we all knew that was a real possibility.

Yup team was always going to live or die by their goaltending. Disappointing so far but not entirely unpredictable.
He'll go on a hot streak eventually but hopefully it's enough

Maybe he's still there and someone else came back and has been wearing his jersey for games?

This team has been playing way too good on most nights this season and must be getting frustrated with the constant goals against

How come these "first goals" never work out in the Flames favour? They could use a couple of those right now.

Meh. We're playing alright. Their goalie is playing better than ours. So frustrating.

This just isn't the Smith we saw last year. Guys are running into him and he's not battling them.
I liked angry Smith, not dejected Smith

Not to pile on but I don’t like Smith’s attitude as well. He pouts when he doesn’t get the start. My sense is he thinks he’s better than he is.

Agreed. Flames have been chasing their tails ever since that 1st goal, which seemed to completely deflate them at the time.
Rittich should really get the bulk of the starts going forward if this team wants to stay in the hunt.
And FFS, get the PP going!

Remember how 2 years ago Smith got jobbed out of a shut out by a horrible call to make it 5 on 3 for the Flames against the strong offensive Leafs?
Oops that was only 3 days ago.

Flames have significantly outplayed Colorado tonight. It's a shame the score is what it is.

This game shows how important a bonafide number one goalie is. Rittich should be getting more starts as Smith seems unable to be our number one this year.

Well, all things considered, Varlamov will almost always be better. He is close to an elite goalie. This's year he's been lights out.

Feels like every other teams goalie is playing better than ours when Smith is in net.
That's standard NHL level goaltending. Smith isn't capable of it anymore. He's not a NHL goaltender; at least at starter level.
