Didn't Dustin Brown and Mike Richards fall off the map under Darryl? I mean Darryl's a good coach but I don't know if that's a valid claim. Darryl's teams generally don't score a lot. In 2006 he said we lost because of offense. In 2015 he said the Kings missed the playoffs because of offense. In 2017 he said the Kings missed the playoffs because of offense.

My opinion remains the same from the coaching carousel thread.

I’d love to see this poll without AV and Sutter as options.

A couple of Cups in there, too.

I'd reluctantly go with Ruff. Or Tippett but someone would have to put a gun to my head and make me cry while I voted when it came to Tippett.

The only thing I do wonder is if the Flames simply aren't considered an attractive destination for the bigger name coaches, which limits the pool of candidates somehow.
But apart from that, why would BT hire anyone less than the guy he thinks is the best for the job? What would the motivations be?
|
But... is it going to be the best coach or the best coach to play the style BT thinks they should play? Big difference. He got it wrong last time. If BT is wrong in his base assumption...

Sutter would tell the team to beat the crap out of anyone dare to take any run at Johnny, or any of their teammate. No more running our goalie with no repercussion.

Brown both had a career year and fell apart under Darryl. Richards was going to decline anyway.

AV is by far my top choice. Wouldn't be upset if Sutter got the job though. Trotz would be third place.
Not liking the rumours of Peters.

Tippett isn’t an option... he and Maloney don’t get along after a power struggle in Phoenix led to Maloney firing.
Would be more surprised by tippet signing than DS

At 180 pounds he looked like a man possessed, under gully he would do this alot less albeit bigger and stronger.
Daryll would force Bennett to go back to playing like he should be, all out every shift. Crash the net and play hard along the boards. Bennetts shouldnt try and deke out four players(he has tons of skill but shouldnt focus on that aspect of the game). If he wants to be successful again he needs to be the player he was when he played his first season here.
Sutter would promote this type of play.
|
Completely agree, both Tkachuk and Bennett would have an identity, both would learn what it takes to win at all costs. Sutter would have them both playing with a chip int heir shoulder, snarly and aggressive. Sutter would have probably have a short shelf life, BUT would probably have them playing for a CUP and these guys would be completely different players with experience.
