The quote says someone they feel they can re-sign ~ If the Flames feel like Kane is extendable I could see a fit just looking at the age group and the skill set Kane boasts. Rough and tumble winger, still young, fights, 20 goals on a bad team this year.
Don't get me wrong; I get the trepidation or resistance on signing Kane but he is an interesting thought no doubt.

Take Ryan out of there and I agree with you. No way we take Ryan unless the Sens are attaching a 1st round pic.

I would take Zack Smith over Brian Gionta.
And I do not want Zack Smith.

Conroy said "or a chance to re-sign" that would include Kane I imagine.

Maybe I'm seeing Kane as the ass he appears to be, but I can't see him giving up the opportunity to hit UFA and act like a big shot for a few weeks.

Hearing that the Lightning aren't the only Florida-based team kicking tires on Ryan McDonagh...the Panthers appear to be interested too.

I think SJ should trade him along with all their other good players for picks and prospects.

And that’s fine. I’m just saying we can afford to go on a bidding war for really any free agent probably up to $7M. Doesn’t even have to be Gionta, if Kovalchuk was available I’d be saying the same thing, could be anyone.
That was my main point is that for a free asset, if there’s a bidding war, we can afford to outbid other teams because we have the available cap space.
But from the sounds of it, there are a few teams involved on him already and it doesn’t sound like he’s interested in going out west.

...Kane could be re-signed, which is something Conroy clearly says is an option. Someone with term or that they can re-sign

Friedman debunked the Flames interest in Smith a while ago.

If that team is willing to trade Karlsson, nobody is untouchable

Any chance the Flames try and sign Mark Stone to an offersheet in the offseason?

They need their own picks, and they have a mess happening in that department.

Don't have the required picks to do so.

Mark Stone would be awesome. Reunited with his brother and former junior line mate Ferly

That could always be changed pretty easily.

They can only offer a max offer sheet because they don't have their 2nd in 2019. Which means 4 first round picks.
To get to the lower tier levels of offer sheet they would need to reacquire their 2019 2nd.

Not really, they would have to trade back for their own picks and with all of the conditions linked to them, it would be far from easy.
