Fair deal.
Find me a way to spend 12.5 mil on a roster that helps me win more than McDavid?

Crosby says hello.

You can tell by his tan and the fact that he cant be in town tomorrow for the Semenko tribute that he flew in for this and hes going to GTFO ASAP. Probably while the cameras are still rolling.

Guess he's just not as good as Crosby.

Hate to say it, but for once the Oilers got a deal. McDavid could have demanded $15 x 5 or $15 x 8 and held them hostage. Damn you, McDavid!

Not saying they are comparable but there is definitely a statistical argument to be made on the surface.

NHL history is littered with one year playoff wonders. Draisaitl needs to prove he can score consistently without McDavid as his centre before he can be talked of in the same breath as Malkin.
One playoff does not a career make.

2) Leak rumblings McJesus decided to leave money on the table - check
Then boom, official number comes in under original leak, McJesus is heralded as a great leader, and also gives some control with Draisaitl as they can clamor that McJesus left money on the table and so should you.
When you have bloated contracts for Russell, RNH, and Lucic, that $750k savings is not much in my opinion.

connor's level of comfort is less then an entry level contract.. too funny.. like i said above.. you have to respect the hustle.. fans are cheering this!
and no edmonton media will dare bring up the marginal difference in cap hit.. no way... a hero is born

that was never gonna happen...that is as far fetched as the 9.7M
its over 6M for every 50 points he had this season...if that's a deal I don't know. He has played one full season and is the highest paid player in the league.

How about, your not going to sneak up on teams like last year, you're not going to have a baby soft schedule with lots of tired teams thanks to the NHL.
How about teams are going to come out and play you differently now.
God that's an arrogant franchise surrounded and supported by arrogant fans.
Win the cup? Not likely, not now, and certainly not after this season.
The only thing your going to win Oiler fans.
Tell em what they've won Johnny?
Another rebuild.

That's about what I expected it to be. The real killer contracts are going to be Lucic and Draisaitl. I really hope Drai comes in over $9. He's not worth that.

If Drai gets anything over 7 he owes the difference to Connor for making him look so good.

I was told it would be min term and max salary so he could get out of Edmonton to go play for the Leafs.
Solid signing.

Good thing I prepared for the situation.
Max term, team-friendly deal. It could be team-friendlier, but he left plenty of money on the table.

Oh fun. Let's look at the NHL final 4 - aka teams that made it further than Edmonton last year.
Anaheim
Lindholm: $5.25M
Silfverberg: $3.75M
Gibson: $2.3M
Nashville
Josi: $4.0M
Ekholm: $3.75M
Eliis: $2.5M
Jarnkrok: $2.0M
Ottawa
Karlsson: $6.5M
Hoffman: $5.2M
Pittsburgh
Crosby: $8.7M
Murray: $3.75M
Not saying that McDavid isn't worth it - because he totally is worth $12.5M but to act like its a bargain is ridiculous. Also it's going to be hard for that team to compete because they don't have very few value long term contracts like some of the ones listed on their roster. Klefbom, Larsson....and that's about it.
