Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, etc spent eight years seriously accusing Obama of being a secret terrorist, of not being born in the US, of trying to destroy the very fabric of this nation. They harassed his wife and daughters for style choices among other things. These accusations were made with 100% seriousness.

Pretty sure a crude joke by a comedian isn't quite the same thing.

What would the setup for the joke be? Who's Obama gay for? Who is Hillary scissoring? The ghost of Elenor Roosevelt? The public needs to know.

And they have all been labeled as fascist, racist, sexist, bigots and homophobic. Now CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, Comeby Cenrtal, BEN are all making similar accusations against Trump as well as harrasing his family and the masses seem to embrace it. The criticism of Trump goes far beyond a joke that was made.

My original point is the double standard that exists when it comes to criticism by MSM, criticism of Obama was/ is often mistaken for racism and criticism of Hillary was/ is often mistaken for sexism. Trump is a rich republican so free reign to criticize away, his children and wife are also rich as well as good looking so criticize away, many of his supporters are middle America so criticize them as well.

As a fun mental game I play to keep me sane, I take any news story about this administration and imagine IF it was Obama and how the media would react.

If anyone thinks Trump is getting a rough ride, or unfair treatment, just IMAGINE if Obama had done any of the 100 or more blunders that this POTUS has or the failures he has already been responsible for the first 100 days.

Oh and then there is the tiny issue of Russia, look who ballistic the right wing went after Benghazi, IF it was Obama and Russia it would be more gun sales, armed militias walking on Washington to call for his impeachment.

I kinda try and stay away from discussing politics here now. Too much of a hot potato. I do however read every post in this thread. I identify as a conservative. A little closer to center, but a conservative non-the-less. That being said, I find it absolutely mind boggling that anyone on this planet can openly defend Trump. He is a buffoon, a racist, a bigot, a misogynist, and the scariest human being to ever be in such a position of power. And my opinion of ANYBODY that supports him, are also all of the above. How can people be so daft? This guy doesn't even seem like he has a grade school education.

He is scarier the Kim Jong-Un in my eyes. All he can do is posture with his 50's era military equipment. Trump has his finger on the button of the most lethal arsenal on the earth. I'm not saying I would condone it, but I also wouldn't be devastated if something were to happen to remove him from power via a tragic amount of force. I truly believe this lunatic is a massive threat to the security of this planet. I believe he would start WW3 just to assert his dominance and pacify his ego.

Hopefully the guy just resigns or has a heart attack. At least Pence isn't mentally ill. This was entertaining at first, the buffoonery, but it's actually getting pretty damn concerning now.

Cannot fathom how anyone can support him one iota. It's baffling.

There's no double standard, you're just looking at two different masses. The "masses" also embrace Fox News and the like on the regular. They're mostly just an entirely different mass. They also happened to elect the current president, so you can't really call them insignificant.

I suppose the difference is mostly that Fox News, Infowars, and the like actually are fascist, racist, sexist, homophobic bigots, and the mainstream media are... well... not.

Not all things are created equal.

It is the system has gotten so out of hand because of the fundamental pressures of the first past the post system has devolved Americans to our side vs. their side. The Republicans could nominate Corrupty McCorrupterson as their nominee for President and have a guaranteed 40% of the vote and the Democrats can nominate Grandma Nixon and still can expect at least 40%.

In addition, the media has stratified and consequently solidified the positions of the populace and shockingly the supposedly independent judiciary thought it would be prudent to put a D or a R next to their names. It has gotten to the point where there can only be two possibilities either a civil war or a strongman seizes power and effectively puts politics on hold for decades or more.

The scary part is what Trump is doing may be the better solution of the two end points for the United States and the only way to avoid either end is for the voting public to soundly take back democracy and defeat him and his party by more than 10%.

The right wing "criticism" of Obama was based on racism, there is no argument here, they didn't like a "N#gger" in the "White" House. Obama born in Kenya? Michelle a secret man? I would be rich if I could get a dollar from every message board post or comment that compared the Obama's to monkeys. (There is a reason why the KKK and white supremacist groups are right wing groups.)
The agenda against Clinton is a bit more complicated, her last name is Clinton, and she is a she, and she was a political threat. Back in the 90's right wing supporters bashed her 12 year old daughter Chelsea for her looks. They blamed Hillary for her husbands cigar-intern fetish. Then they ramped it up with political witch hunts like Benghazi and the ever so dreaded emails. (Where is the lock her up? We were promised years of investigations if she won, but it all just vanished as soon as the Republicans got all the power.....witch hunt maybe?)

As for harassing his family? Almost all of them have been "appointed" special positions, they are a part of the government....questioning the government and their motives is a time honored tradition that should be applied to every party and every president and administration. They are a part of it and they should be questioned. I don't agree with people posting #### about Tiffany or Barron, but Eric, Trump Jr. and Ivanka are a part of it and should be questioned. Not to mention Jared and Melania.

Do I think that maybe, just maybe that the joke I heard about a cockholster may have gone a bit far? Nope. not at all.

On the day he hopes the start the process of taking away health care from 20+ million people, the king of the assclowns finds time to bootlick FOX News on ratings (which his own cultists are turning against ironically).

You do realize Steven Colbert is a comedian right?

Who are the best most popular conservative comedians? I will check if they have said anything rude, but applicable.

The reason why conservatives get annihilated a lot more than Dems is that Murican conservatives generally lack basic human decency. Case in point, in order to help give the richest people a massive tax cut, special education will be getting cut. Sounds like something from a third world country, not the alleged greatest country on earth.

I think the closest thing the American Right has to an actual "comedian" is Steven Crowder and that guy is a step below Milo for hilariously stupid witticisms regarding Obama/Hilary/Democrats.

The republicans are hell bent on just handing things over to states because that means smaller government! (or larger state government if one thought it through).

They rely on a "closer to the people" arguments. And for some things I can see that as true but for things that require major funding the ONLY thing that is going to happen is a further divide between have and have not states. The GOP wins consistently come from what are the have not states. When do the have not states get sick of wasting away compared to the haves? When do they connect the dots?

It will be interesting to see what happens moving forward...I literally talked to two people this morning who STILL did not know ACA and Obamacare were the same thing. They were ecstatic Obamacare was going to be repealed so they could, and I quote, "concentrate on ACA rather than Obamacare". That's how well informed the electorate is.

So wait, Fox News doesn't count as MSM now?

The #1 most-watched news network in the US isn't MSM?

I never said Colbert crossed the line, I've stated repeatedly he is 100% free to say whatever the heck he wants. Suddenly Fox has gotten a lot of credibility from other posters in this forum, are they not the laughing stock of media in America?
