Well 0% is pretty unsustainable. They have to get a weird bounce or something eventually.

Right?

For the record, in 2013-14, they were shut out 5 times in 7 games.

Our bench is completely deflated, and Gulutzan is standing there with his head down...

I wonder again what the record is for consecutive 4 goal deficits to open games.

Right?
The Calgary Flames don't get bounces. Don't you know this?

We don't know the details of Gulutzan's contract but I can't imagine he has a high $ contract. Likely significantly less than Hartley. So I think that the Flames could reasonably pay out Hartley and Gulutzan if we could pick up Julien.
I agree. Flames maybe a lot of things but they are not cheap. They are a near cap team since 2006 with the exceptions of the rebuild start. Since then it has been climbing back up. Now they may be cheap with support staff including coaches. If so that is just dumb. For the price of Wideman you could have a top coach who would have huge impact comparatively.

I think Flames are money smart. They'll spend if there is value but won't throw it around just because. It is smart business.

I bet Julian could be hired if a case for it can be made. Flames are full of smart business people they get how investment works.

That's just not true. They get a good chance and miss the net or fire it in to the chest. I'd be worried of they didn't get those opportunities. The goals will come. It's the brain farts defensively that have me exasperated

And those were dark times indeed. Was painful to watch, very similar to this, but worse. At least in these games they are outshooting teams, back then it felt like they barely ever touched the puck, other teams were playing keepaway. Possession was not that Flames team's strong suit.

But at the end of the day, they turned it around and made the playoffs. You gotta have faith that can happen again. Don't lose all hope, folks!

The Flames lost 2-0 consecutively to the Oilers and Canucks under Hartley during his second season with the team. The Flames finished that season with 77 points, the first of what would be two 77 point seasons out of 4 behind the bench.

That season, between December 15th and January 15th the flames were shutout in 6 of 15 games. During a span of 7 games in that stretch, the flames were shut out in consecutive games twice, including losing 5-0 and 6-0 to St. Louis and Phoenix.

Check the stats again, man.
