Yes I know that but goalies go back and forth and Hellebuyck has struggled lately after a pretty good start. Hutchinson got the Rangers game with the Jets having a day off in between games. That's usually not a good sign for the starter.

I get that there are a people out there who treat advanced stats as some kind of magic recipe for predicting the future. But that's not the fault of the stats themselves.

Hard to ignore it when it creeps into almost every thread.

Nobody thinks that. Most of us think they can't even explain the past, never mind the future.

It's fun to make fun of the crappy Jets and their crappy, crappy town.
For someone who passes himself off as an intellectual you are remarkably low brow.

That would be "lowbrow," and I would counter that there is virtually nothing "highbrow" about the awful Jets.

This is a Calgary Flames forum. Are you really that astonished by the presence of vitriolic and irrational hatred by Flames fans of other Canadian teams?

Come on.

One of the most absurd comments of the month, and there has been plenty of absurdity.

Not only has Engelland been really good all this year (and for most of his time in Calgary, actually), but you want to insist that Kulak - who has come up a few times, looked good and then fades into 'a poor stretch of games' until getting demoted is dragging around Engelland?

You keep making these absurd claims - this isn't your first - and they have no logic behind them.

Engelland has been a great partner to pair with Kulak and Wotherspoon when they come up. He covers for them nicely, is loud and tells them what they should be doing, and they look good BECAUSE they are playing with Engelland.

Oh, and the blind Wideman hate is infuriating as hell too. He has been really good, and yet people are still insisting he is losing us games? Hogwash.

This post is a bit on the impatient side - sorry - but this just keeps going and going on these boards.

hahahahaha, no. Engelland has been a garbage fire for 2 straight years. I will give him tremendous credit for his quality performance this season but he has been worse than terrible for the majority of his time here.

Not even close.

I agree regarding the Wideman hate at the moment. He has been passing the McTavish visual test for me lately and has seemed perfectly adequate for the most part. He gets exposed every now and again due to his poor foot speed and commits the odd boondoggle, but his outlet passes are usually pretty slick and he seems like a smart player who can usually overcome these shortcomings most of the time (assuming his minutes are kept in check and he's used appropriately).

Interesting, not sure if all goalies do it, but it looks like Johnson follows the same ritual as Holtby. Sitting on the bench, getting focused before the game.

Let's be intellectually honest, guys.

It is clearly the worst post in the history of human communication.

I'm here at tonight's game, my second of the year. Hopefully this one goes better than the Carolina game.

Elliot Friedman saying the Flames line up has the potential to lead the charge of exciting hockey in the NHL. He also mentioned the Jets, so hard to take him seriously
