Not producing with Ovechkin and Backstrom might be a signature worthy quote.

25 goals the next season too.
actually, since playing a full season, outside of his first year, 18 goals last year has been his lowest production since breaking into the league.
im pretty stoked for this signing.

I am far from a Treliving cheerleader, but I don't see why anyone would dislike this signing. The salary and term are fine for a UFA with his production history. It's not like he is that old.

I like the acquisition. Far too many liberties were taken last year on both Gaudreau and Monahan. The Flames needed some more grit and toughness in the lineup. hopefully this helps in that regard.

It's a year longer than I'd like. Money is a touch high too. But than again we carried David Jones for 3 years for pretty much the same money.

Troy Brouwer has been remarkably healthy, and as long as his skating doesn't decline too badly, I think we can expect him to be a for 30-40 points a year, which a chance for a 50-point campaign if he gets some puck luck. Plus, you know, intangibles, physical play, etc.
He reminds me a lot of Joel Ward.

I specifically remember Feaster saying in one of the draft videos the Flames put out from the 2011 draft that they tried to trade for Brouwer back then for a second round pick, Chicago rejected since they were offered a late first by Washington. Looks like the organization has had interest in the player for a long time.
I happened to find that video. 2:20 in

Love it.
Leading into his last year in jr a lot of people here wanted him gone, he ended up taking the league scoring title.
He's won a cup, been in the playoffs several times and should be a great influence on our young studs.
This is a great signing for the club, and now I get to cheer for another Warrior on the Flames.

Don't understand the people who are complaining that he's getting paid based on a good playoff run.
We're gonna need those good playoff performers starting this year!

Holy smokes! This thread is the most polarizing one I have read this year.
Pure entertainment from both camps! Very few opinions fall in the middle. Fantastic.
Right up there with my favorite thread last year about the Hamilton trade!
Sure looks like Brouwer has a chance to show why advanced stats are not always right if he turns in a year we all hope he will.

Maybe a year too long and a little high for my liking but it's what you pay for FA's and he brings some elements that we don't have on the team right now, so I can live with it.

Troy Brouwer's contract with #Flames has a full NTC in first two years, 15 team no trade list in final two years.

OMG. This fact makes me sad.
Just think about it this way everyone. What if we traded David Jones for Troy Brouwer? How many people would think of that as a major win for Treliving? That's essentially what we did.

Was hoping for no NTC but 15 team ntc isnt too bad. We should be able to trade him near the back end of the contract if necessary

Do NTCs require to be protected for the expansion? Or just NMCs?
Happy with the signing. Seems about average for payment/term. Not a steal, but doesn't seem like a massive overpayment. Liked what I saw from him on St. Louis, and really liked him at the presser. Seems like a great character guy for the room who can also throw up some points.
Looking forward to see if he pans out here.

Only NMC's require protecting.
Does not matter this round of expansion, Flames will protect him next spring

Expecting a career year out of a guy who turns 31 next year is optimistic. Career norms would be good enough.
