All the guys signing for more and longer were better. This is a terrible deal. Someone else said it already but it bares repeating... this like we gave Glencross a raise and 4 year extension. Bad, bad, bad.

Last year was a bit of a down year, had a hard time adjusting leaving the Capitals for the Blues last year. Could see a return to the 25 goal mark if he's riding shotgun to Gaudreau and Monahan.

Now starts the desperation in trying to justify a bad move.

RW suddenly looks pretty good. Frolik, Brouwer and Chiasson give the Flames some great depth and versatility.
Your post sums up my thoughts exactly. Maybe a little bit more dough than we thought but he's the type of guy we needed.

Way happier with this than paying Colborne 4M

Guys are playing well at 34 all the time now. Not the 90's anymore

The comparison to Frolik is apt. He's a "fixer".

We'll end up liking this player, and then thank the stars there isn't a 5th year on the deal

Well you've got 17-25 goals from this guy for at least a few years you'd think.

Second tier scoring beyond Monahan/Gaudreau with Backlund, Bennett and the defense.

God damn it. I knew it. 4.5m x 4 for someone with a career high of 40 points. Brilliant.

People looking on the bright side of this are kidding themselves. By including brouwer in the hudler deal and playing it off as we just swapped hudler for brouwer and got picks...or saying well at least its not 7 years...at least its not 6 million. No crap - he isnt Okposo, Ladd, Lucic, Backes, Eriksson. He's a 40pt middle 6 guy.

It is a bad contract.

Welcome to the Flames Troy. I have a feeling we have a new whipping boy.

####!

This was the Colborne replacement we needed. Treliving sugared up the reasons nicely for not qualifying him but I think being hard to play against was the main reason for this signing and release of Colborne.

I guess I can live with it if that was the thought process.

Ouch, that is not a good deal. Worst part is that it means Colborne walks. Inexcusable not to get at least a 3rd or 4th rounder for him. I know there are lots of people on here who defend flames mgmt at all costs but this is not a great day so far.

Next off-season we are going to be out of Wideman's contract. In two, we'll be free from Boum and Stajan.

It's just really disappointing that we have another one to add to the list.

Considering the prices and terms being signed this year, the Flames got a decent contract.
