It doesn't make any sense because Johnson isn't injured. If he gets injured, they can go out and find a goalie at that time. It's not like Treliving is going to drive a hard bargain if someone wants to take Ramo off his hands (especially with Scrivens also in the AHL making a couple million).
If your main car is in the shop for repairs, you don't go out and spend $30,000 on a car that has engine troubles because there's a small chance your second car might break down before you get your first car back.

It's getting old having to watch people accuse anyone who says anything remotely positive about the Oilers of being an Oilers fan or a troll of some sort.
Calgary has played like absolute dog #### this season, they've been outplayed by the Oilers at every turn. This is fact, not trolling.
Flames have been awful through most of their games, it's been painful to watch.

This conversation had nothing to do about the Oilers goaltending until poe brang up the Oilers for some reason. So I stated a fact that they do at have better goaltending than we do. Listen, I'm trying to bring something to this conversation about ramo and why I was surprised he cleared. It then turns into an unnecessary gongshow where nothing substantial is said. Kind of hilarious.

It's not as easy making trades as much as we'd like to think, if it was we'd see more trades happening. If he gets injured and replacements are unavailable, then what? Assets are assets, whether it be a 2nd rounder or 7th. Why spend anything if you could have had him for free? Even If johnson is not injured, what we do know is that an inexperienced goaltender is the starter with no safety net at all. They'd literally be starting an echl calibre goaltender and be much worst off.
Yeah, clearly not. But if you rear end someone with your main car, and it has to go for service... do you risk buying one way insurance or full coverage?

I have to agree with everything said here.
I ficking hate the Oilers but facts are facts.
Calgary 29th in the league only ahead of Columbus.
Hiller gaa 3.71 sv% .867
Ramo gaa 4.37 sv% .879
Talbot gaa 2.23 sv% .920
Nilsson gaa 1.98 sv% .953
I'm not even that confident Ortio will save the goaltending situation with out being elite and the team firing on all cylinders.
Ortio 15 games played. Gaa 2.52 sv% .899
Better than Hiller or Ramo but he will have to be kipperesque to make a difference.

I'd definitely take Talbot at this point.

Hell, Nilsson looks as poised in net as any goalie I've seen lately. Cool as a cucumber. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't want a goalie like that on my team.

It's just as tiresome to hear people talk like less than two weeks into the season there are any kinds of conclusions to be drawn.
Things like "The Oilers were bound to turn the corner", "have better goaltending" etc.
Way, way too soon to be making any kind of conclusions like that. The Oilers have been so relentless in driving in the wrong direction for years, it's going to take a hell of a lot more winning to concluded they've done anything remotely resembling turning anything around.

No one is saying they have turned a corner at all. What is being said is at the moment they are out playing the Flames. That can change but for now the Flames need to give their heads a shake.

Yuck! Oiler cheerleading? It's bad enough that this is a thread about how our 3.8 m goalie earned a demotion.

I have read several people making comments about them turning things around. Again, extremely premature.
No one is arguing they don't have 4 more points than is in October, nor is the fact we have stumbled out of the gate being contested. But again, its early. Very early to be bragging or fretting.

I think last October the Oilers had A four game winning streak. We had a ten game losing streak in December. Look how that turned out.
No doubt the Oilers have to improve sooner or later.

Well the guy we accused has been sniffed out and banned mere hours after his shenanigans started.
We don't accuse every Oiler supporter of being a troll, just the obvious ones. His 43 post frenzy was easy to see through

Just going by posting style and join date it seems like he was just another incarnation of YoungGuns and flamesforver (sic), so we're likely to see another new account setting up camp in this thread pretty soon.

What does any of this have to do with the fact that the poster in question was in fact an Oilers fan masquerading as a Flames fan? He was busted and now he's banned. IMO the fact that Oilers fans continue to do this garbage on our forum says a lot more about them than it does Flames fans.

Can't agree with this either. Let's use this analogy, and assume that our goalies haven't been playing like garbage.
Let's say someone claimed Ramo, so our goalie pecking order is:
Hiller
Ortio
Gillies
If Hiller got injured, I would lose my mind if Treliving made a trade to grab Scrivens 'just in case' Ortio was injured too and we had to play un-proven Gillies.

Yep. Thought he had talbot or jones in summer. That was plan A. Plan B was sign ramo with hiller trade lined up. As Tre hinted on radio, the plan fell through. He got stuck with 3 goalies. Alternative of hiller and ortio was not what he wanted but that is what he got. Misjudged goalie market.

This thread is hilarious. I can't believe somebody fell for an Oilers fan's very obvious trolling attempt. For shame..
