With how aggressive Trelivng appears to be on the trade front I do think having cap space could be very useful. Seeger mentioned as much on TSN yesterday mentioning Treliving is among the most aggressive GM's in the league

Not to mention depth in case of a goalie injury.
At some point in the year a goalie will get hurt and we will need to call a goalie up to the NHL.
If we are in the middle of a playoff push when that injury happens I would rather have insurance of Ramo and Gillies, as opposed to just Gillies.

Time to move on hopefully to better things with Ortio getting some starts.

The Buffalo TV host Brian Duff literally laughed at the suggestion Ramo would get claimed by Buffalo. He mentioned the Byfuglien goal and said he didn't see any chance Buffalo claims him.
Outside a couple good games that every Goalie has (including Scrivens and Fasth), Ramo hasn't been good. Most teams have at the very least a comparable Goalie

Where can you find which players are on waivers? Is there a list published on the NHL site? I've looked a few times and couldn't find anything. I usually just see tweets with updates.

There is no official list by the NHL. In fact the NHL doesn't even give the list to the media. The media (i.e McKenzie and Lavoie) gets the info from the NHLPA. In some cases teams will announce it.

3 more minutes to find out what happened to Ramo....I still think he'll clear and be part of a deal. I hope someone claims him though

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Assignment to Stockton likely later today. #Flames
General Fanager @generalfanager
Ramo will presumably be assigned to AHL. If so, will continue to count for $2.85M against cap, $950,000 relief.

With how horribly he's doing, and that expensive contract, yeah. But other teams see him exactly as we do however.

Now cleared. I am hearing Ramo is off to Stockton AHL. Will wait for confirmation on that. #Flames

What security does a subpar goalie really provide?
If Hiller and Ortio both get injured, they could just get a goalie off the scrap heap and be no worse for the wear. Scrivens, Budaj, Ramo.... who cares at that point, they're all just awful.

If there's an injury, I'd rather have Ramo called up than Gillies. That's the security.

I sure as heck wouldn't. At this point I can't say I'd be reassured with Ramo in net over many goalies.

I know we all love Treliving but he has made severa bad free agent signings in the last couple years. Ramo, Raymond, Engellend make up $10M of cap space that might all be buried in the minors or press box

Two of those were short term deals with the intention of reaching the cap floor and providing competition in camp. And Raymond had a 20 goal, 40 point season the year before he was signed. Nobody expected him to fall off a cliff like he has.
I'll admit that the Ramo signing was a head scratcher at the time, and it looks even worse now. I'm convinced there was a Hiller trade in place that fell through. Probably to San Jose, before they got Jones.
It's not like these deals have put the team in cap hell, and they'll all be off the books soon.
