If they can hire Tortorella, then I wouldn't put it past them.

If Neuvirth is out for a while, maybe the Flyers will claim Ramo. But I'm not sure if the Flyers have the cap space.

You act like Ortio never played a regular season NHL game, in fact he handled himself quite well last year when he was called upon

I doubt Ramo will go to Europe this year. He'd be leaving about $3 Million on the table.
I am sure he will suck it up, back up Gillies, and then re-evaluate his options at the end of the year. It's not like he's had a long NHL career like Kipper. That extra few Million will come in handy back in Helsinki.

Watch Treliving really troll the fan base after Ramo clears and he keeps him up with the big club and Hartley continues cycling between Hiller and Ramo....

I was hoping that Ramo would be able to stick it, and we will have a tandem of Ramo and Ortio.
Good that the goalie situation looks to be resolved, atleast for now.

the Flames can strike a deal and loan him to a European team and he would still get paid

I hope someone puts in a claim. We could use to get that contract and cap hit off the books.

I hope he gets claimed as well, but only so he doesn't take playing time away from Gillies.

Remember the AHL tends to have a lot of back to backs and 3 game in 4 night situations. (I believe the Heat have 18 pairs of back to back games this season).
Will be lots of games for both goalies if need be.
Plus Gillies is used to a college schedule where he only played 35-40 games, don't want to wear him out by trying to play him too much.

Gaudreau was used to a college schedule too, didn't really bother him much. I do agree that if Ramo goes down there will be lots of work for both of them but I'd only play Ramo if Gillies needed a break but if he's doing well with all the work, even better!
It would be great if Ramo was claimed but I'm betting he clears and is part of a deal tonight that sees another contract coming back to the Flames or has the Flames retaining salary.

There is no guarantee that they actually send him to the AHL.
They didn't with Raymond.
Have they announced specifically that they intend to do so if he isn't claimed?

Some tweets from media have indicated yes they plan to send him to Stockton if he clears. And he wasn't at practice yesterday.

They're done carrying 3 goalies. Either he gets claimed, gets demoted, or clears and then gets traded with retained salary or something.

I think they are on a reduced schedule being in the California division. Many fewer back to backs etc. So not sure he gets a ton of playing time. But who really cares I guess. Ramo's playing time in the AHL is pretty irrelevant.
Not impossible Ramo stays with the club after going unclaimed. Seems odd you wouldn't play Ortio once or twice before waiving Ramo. Handled strangely from the very start.

Gillies and Ramo rotating #1 duties will be helpful, IMO. Stockton are going to be a great team this year, and having a vet like Ramo there to avoid hanging Gillies out to dry will do remarkable wonders for our goalie prospect in learning the pro game.

I recall they pulled Raymond from practice too...and there were speculative media tweets about him being sent down too.
Don't get me wrong, I think they will send him down...but I'm not sure it's as guaranteed as some seem to think.

I hope that he clears. It gives us a safety net if someone gets injured. I don't think that we need the contract or salary space this year. The security is far more valuable imo.
