Not happy to see Byron go, not even a little bit. The guy is full of heart and lays it all on the line, every shift. However, I will say that I am happy for his chance with Montreal and hope it goes well for him.

Considering Byron was at the Dome today, he was most definitely still going to be part of the team.
Why don't you read the comments. 90% of the posters are sad to see Byron gone. Accept that you are in a vast minority and don't act like nobody cares that he's no longer with the organization.

Relax man, read my posts. I'm happy for Byron. He wasn't going to be a full-time member of our team (if he was, he wouldn't have been on waivers), now he might get to be one in Montreal.
He's ultimately a replaceable player who was replaced by even younger players on this team who have the addition of size. Glad he's getting a shot. He's worked hard enough to earn it. We good? Or am I still one of the haterz?

I have read your posts and they are half-hearted at best.
"Hopefully he can get into a few games for Montreal". You don't sound very confident that Byron is a decent player.
You were in the minority that thought Byron was on Waivers because he was AHL bound. Which was completely false.
I'm a Paul Byron fan. I liked the speed, energy, and heart he brought to the team. He was the most dangerous Flames player on the PK so he will be missed but you can't keep everyone and we are probably going to have to get used to seeing some of these bottom six type players move on in the coming years.
I wish the best for him and despite my dislike for that organization I hope this turns out good for the Habs.

Sure he was ok but there's a reason he was waived. Opens up a roster spot for someone else so that's good. Not a huge loss and I'm sure it will give another player the opportunity to earn some games.
Granlund is the key player in making it possible to move Byron. Granlund had a better preseason and is still looked at by the organization as part of the future of the club. Letting Byron go gives Granlund a better chance to cement himself on the NHL roster through call ups and injuries. Byron was great but very role specific and he lost that job to Bollig and Jones..
Byron is an undersized yet gritty, hard skating, effort guy -- hard not to like him. Sad to see him go but wish him all the best -- not sure it would have ultimately worked out in Calgary.
Hopefully will get a chance in Montreal -- he should fare better in the East.
Stolen from sureloss's other thread, this makes it a bit tougher as you can clearly see Paul & Mason front and center for the handing of the jersey. Which means he would have been claimed just shortly after this took place
Good luck Paul, hopefully you find a full time gig out east.

Hartley gave him the support he needed to become a regular NHL player. Now there is additional incentive for our players in the AHL to work so they can be given the same shot.
Wish Byron the best and hoping that a guy from Stockton will seize the opportunity.

I wish him the best and I hope he's used well in Montreal but I'm glad he's gone. It was frustrating to watch him play and know that he really wasn't going to be anything more than what he was. A guy like Granlund now gets a chance to show exactly what he can do for the team, either be a spark plug kind of guy or show skill and get moved up the lineup. This is one of the problems teams with lots of new depth have, Byron was a fan favourite to some but his loss doesn't really hurt the team and may actually benefit them moving forward.
