I just want to reiterate what a few other posters had to say about aquiring Tom Wilson from the Caps-its probably not a possibilty unless other assets are added to the pot in any trade involving Glencross, but i would love to have this guy. He's huge, skates well for a big guy, and is a good fighter. He's also a RW. He's extremely raw right now, but i think he could develop into a poor-man's Lucic down the road. Anyway, i've been wanting to comment on this for awhile....

“Washington is definitely interested in Curtis Glencross and Curtis Glencross may well be interested in Washington. He’s got a no-trade clause that allows him to specify only six teams that he could go to.

“Now, the Washington Capitals are not on that list of six teams. But he is open-minded about going to Washington because they’ve obviously had a good year and that list was submitted quite some time ago. So while it has not been officially documented with the Calgary Flames that Washington is an okay destination for Curtis Glencross, the belief is that he is open to going to Washington and that Washington is one of a number of teams that are interested.

“Chicago Blackhawks have scouts at the Calgary-New Jersey game tonight. Everybody is wondering: ‘Would the Blackhawks be interested in Jagr?’

“Much more interested in Glencross than they would be Jagr.”

I know Glencross doesn't get you Alzner
But Alzner no way gets you in the ball park for any of those three.

Im not trying to pick on you today, but I think its time to step away from the keyboard for a while. You have thrown some absolute doozies out there today. Get a good sleep and try again some other time.

Yeah he is, but outside of those 3 we have nothing that would entice them to move Alzner.

I'm good thanks. It's not so much me throwing out doozies as it is certain CP members being absolutely delusional when it comes to players outside of Calgary.

One game didn't increase his value.

Glencross: until I get the call that I am something different, I am a Flame. That's all he says he's worried about now

I don't think any one game increases any player's value. What it can do is encourage a GM who is debating on whether or not to pull the trigger on a trade to do so.

In the realm of silly things people have said "Wanna make a bet?" about, this one might take the cake. How can you possibly bet on such a thing? How would you determine who won post-trade?

So you throw out a scenario just as ludicrous?

I think if the Flames wanted to they could build a package for Alzner outside of those big 3 pieces. Maybe it involves Hudler, or prospects like Poirier/Klimchuck.

But likely no fit anyways as the Flames wouldn't want to move those guys.

I see what you're saying, and I agree up to a point. I wouldn't see any one game as affecting the value of Glencross if we were a month from the deadline. There is, however, only a couple of days to get a deal done and a limited number of available "scoring wingers" available. Not to mention the palatable term and cap hit he has to interested playoff teams.

In my opinion, what tonight's game could possibly do is entice not just one, but a couple GMs to attempt closing the deal before Monday. Hopefully this would enable Treliving to play one offer against another, and agree to the best deal available.

Also, not that anyone cares, but put me in the "fingers crossed for a D prospect" camp.

Glencross for Alzner is much more ludicrous, it's silly to even discuss as they wouldn't do it without a major piece like Monahan, Bennett, Gaudreau, etc going back, and we wouldn't do it if they asked for those pieces.

I like Alzner, and I certainly don't believe Glencross gets you Alzner (especially given that the Caps are looking to add not subtract or break even with their roster).......but Alzner never has been, nor will he ever be the type of Dman that can command an A+ prospect the likes of Gaudreau, Bennett or Monahan in a trade.

Especially considering two of those guys have already graduated and found success at the NHL level, and technically aren't prospects anymore.

No, but like I said, that is what they will ask for as they have zero desire or incentive to deal him.

I think Glencross is moved on the weekend or TDL but he will still be around Friday for his last game as a Flame. Hopefully another inspired performance to ensure a return greater than Winnik, Tlusty, Bergenheim etc

I don't think it is much more ludicrous because the chance that the Flames move one of those 3 for Alzner is precisely zero.
So it is just as silly.
Sorry I just hate this style of debate. Someone says something that isn't realistic so you argue against it by proposing something just as absurd.
Pointless.
