Seems like an absolute steal for CAR.
Huge over payment for a goodish NHL Dman in Sekera.

Winnipeg, Minnesota and Los Angeles have all made moves to improve their playoff runs, whether overpayment or not.
Calgary - what's your answer?

Zero impact. Sekera is a 28 year old defenseman who scored as many points last year as Glencross in his career year.
The two are nowhere near each other value-wise IMO

^^ no. McKeown is a solid prospect, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Think McDonald or Hunter Smith.

McKeowns not that good friend. I like him a bunch but he's a tad lower on the totem pole than say Wotherspoon.

Hopefully Calgary's answer is to sell some assets off and take advantage of a clear seller's market

Trade away a Pending UFA?
None of the teams you listed are in year 2 of a rebuild. To give up picks/prospects at this stage would be terrible.

If LA makes the playoffs this looks like a pretty decent deal. If I was a King's fan I would rather see my team in the playoffs than make a mid to late round selection when the roster and cupboard is already stacked.
However if they miss, it will sting a bit not having that pick for next year. Really puts pressure on them to perform.

Okay, maybe not Poirier, but Sven for sure. Also, who?

If that is the return Sekera is getting I would hope the Flames are dangling Wideman (possibly with salary retained) in front of everyones face.

Not saying I want this, but I honestly think we're gonna see Reinhart + 3rd for Stewart

I think we've definitely got the GM, but not a lot of pieces to part with.
Sekera for a 1st and prospect kind of lends the idea of what Gio might return in a trade though...
Edit: or wideman

Ya. It would really suck to be a Kings fan right now.
