Great trade for Carolina. I like seeing teams like that come out on top as I like the underdogs.

Ive already penciled in the Kings to make the playoffs.
I think if anything this deal helps the Flames because it could raise the value of Glencross

If LA misses the playoffs...that's a huge level of compensation to give up.
I guess maybe they are thinking of re-signing him as well.

Seriously, wow. A 1st would have been great on its own, but McKeown on top of that ... not a bad return for Carolina, considering that Sekera had absolutely no intention of staying there. Kudos to the Canes, that's a heck of a deal ... even if the 1st turns out to be 30th overall.

Wow! The Kings paid an absolute premium for Sekera!
I guess they're going all in for 3 cups in 4 years... Good for them.

Excellent...
Even less for trade centre panels to discuss on deadline day
Lets see what sort of scramble coverage they can do

so a 50th overall pick (McKeown) and a 25-30th (arguably) for a rental.
Definitely all in, they are getting older, so it makes sense.
Still can't believe Doughty is only 25.

Unreal deal for the Canes. Definitely jealous of that return.

Oh man, they could theoretically rebuild by the time Doughty is Gio's age.

Holy overpayment. I have to wonder what the return on Glencross will be now, if it will have any impact that is.

If they make the playoffs this year giving away next years first could be risky.
Lots of expiring contracts (Stoll, Williams, Regehr, Toffoli, Pearson, Shore, Mcbain, Jones) and with the cap going down that roster could look much different next year.
Team never performs well in the regular season to start with, could see them missing next year too.

I really wish that LA has used up all the good hockey fortune in this 8 game win streak and somehow end up missing the playoffs all together. Come to think of it they are only 2 points up on the Flames despite the huge win streak.

This will not change Glencross' value. The price of D isn't the same as a forward.

Great trade for both sides. Sekera essentially replaces the absence of Voynov. This would be like if we gave up our 1st rounder + Sven or Poirier, heavy price.
