That could be the worst goaltending from both goalies I have seen in a long time. Oh well, they had better move on, and quickly. We know tomorrow is a loss. They had better watch out or we might be on the threshold of another lengthly losing streak. And that would suck.

I would assume he thought Hiller would bounce back. The way Hiller started the year he has gained some conidenc in his coach. I kinda agree on letting the vet fall on the grenade this game. Ortio is killing it in the AHL this year and had a #### 24 hours of travel. Hartley obviously sees everything better than the fans do. He's coaching it after all. He sees the whole team play bad so no need to throw a confident rookie goalie into a dumpster fire like this game.

When your goalie plays like ass then it will delate any team. We kept taking the lead and hiller kept giving it away. He is a terrible goalie and gives up weak a lot.
When you work hard and fight back to tie a game and get a lead and I your goalie just gives it away it's hard to come back.
You need a good goalie and key saves to be a playoff team. Hiller is awful and there is a reason Anaheim let him walk and benched him last year.

What he saw, was Karri Ramo, or the lack thereof.

Is this not kind of what was expected? Were the previous 30 games not often identified as them overachieving and playing above their heads?
We played ourself out of the McDavid/Eichel race, but this was still not likely to be a playoff team.

Yes, the Flames overachieved, as did the coaching staff.
We are now playing worse then we should be and the coaching staff is getting a free walk.

I think we're playing right where was expected.

nobody is excused...its too easy to just put it on Hiller. Team played like a bunch of bums they were badly out shot early in the game when they should have been the team with jump. Not to mention the countless giveaways.
to blame Hiller is giving the team a pass and they don't deserve it
|
You're missing the point. Terrible or not they still managed to score five goals. That's more than enough to win a game. What happened early on shouldn't matter. They got out of the first tied and then took the lead in the second. They did make some bad plays after that but bad defense isn't what got Florida those last three goals.
I think Hiller is a good goalie but tonight he let his team down big time. Hopefully he rebounds big time tomorrow.

So sick of giving away a goal just after we scored one. Seems to happen all the time.

It's the second year of the rebuild. We were expected to be in contention for McDavid. That's exactly what expectations were.

Flames are losing one goal games. They go thru stretches where they control play. They are not a playoff calibre team but to suggest other coaches have figured out the Flames is silly.

Yes, I know its year two of a rebuild.
I continue to see the coaching staff get a free walk.
I know they are not going to turn this Flames team into an elite team currently.

I don't mind the loss too much, it was a weird game all around, but 26 giveaways is not great. Hiller hell bent on finding ways to let in goals is also not great.

Its not at all.
The Flames continue to play a box/square format in their own zone and opposing teams have realized they can control the outside portion of the zone and capitalize off of it.
They beat us down low, funnel the back towards the net and pot goals.
