Hey, he never said who had to tell him to take it down. He left the door open.

And I was joking.

Pet avatars are cool. We've agreed on something. We've begun building the bridge of peace.

There are probably hundreds of half-naked women in avatars and 3 men that I can think of.

Besides which, this is a hockey forum and her picture is of a hockey player.

The forum leaders have made their decision and have stated that they are working on new policies. Subsequent discussions have basically degraded to pissing matches between members. I'm always for an open exchange of ideas and reasonable discussion but at this point I think the forum would be best served by having the moderators shut down this incessant exchange and other similar discussions.

Yes you've made your point, you got what you expected.

I'll make another appeal to reason and maturity and ask everyone to please just either change your avatar if, in light of the conversation here, you feel your own avatar is not appropriate or just leave it alone until we decide what to ask people to do.

I'm pretty sure I didn't jump on EG, other than in my last post asking if she yelled her comments at herself first. I'd thank you not to associate me with "you guys".

I used to post on a forum (before it got taken down for being slightly illegal) that mandated that all avatars be something cute, and that's how I started using my current avatar. I'd be happy seeing more people choosing pets or cute cartoons here too.

Actually that's a very good point I wanted to bring up, but forgot. Takes a lot of wind out of the 'not fair' arguments.

Although, isn't a picture of TWO hockey players?

And hey! Me never figuring out how to put an avatar up has finally paid off!

I will take it down when all the abs/pecs avatars are taken down, should the mods decide to do so.

There, I made it less confrontational for others

I also don't see anything overtly sexual or objectifying about the picture. It's like the cover of any MMA magazine.

And we can also do without these types of comments, deliberate in mocking and with no intention but to prod those it's intended for. Remember the repeated comments about respect and consideration for others?

No dude seriously. I don't want to live on a forum where the rules are exclusionary towards women's asses and in favor of rock hard abs.

Awesome. So why don't you and doctajones428 be the bringers of the new trend in avatars. Lay the first bricks of the bridge together.

I'll cue the dramatic music in the background.

TAKE IT DOWN!

You've now been told.
You both have said the exact same thing and you're both coming across as childish. Stooping down to another person(s) level isn't the way to accomplish your goal. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I too did not know this. However, the problem I have with this solution is that I tend to browse the forum not logged in. Not a huge deal but I also do like that users have avatars. So it's really an all or nothing solution.

My point is if these kinds of images are inappropriate in PGTs and we've decided they are no longer appropriate in dedicated threads then they really should have no purpose in people's avatars either.

I've yet to see someone offer a reason for why they should remain beyond, I can turn them off. And for the record I am not offended by anyone's avatar but as I said I browse CP at work and I know I am not the only one

Genocide and religion have nothing to do with one another.

It will be a very interesting few weeks and months while the mods figure out the new guidelines and how to enforce same. I would suggest it is much more consistent to ban the sexy avatars on objectification grounds, which I think is at least part of the grounds for banning YLYL (recognizing that the commentary in the thread had to do with it as well).
No. It puts the onus on the responsible person. Avatars mean you cant be on the site at all period or turn them all off without question.

Individual threads mean that you have to exercise personal responsibility and restraint.
