Has anyone else seen people saying the kid tried to steal the officer's gun? Any truth to that? Something tells me it's false. Haven't seen it reported by an actual news source, it's just been people commenting on articles. I should really stop reading comments, they just make my blood boil.

What news source have you been reading lol?

Pretty much all the majors are showing both aides of the incident. They are now also reporting that Brown and Johnson were involved in a robbery (captured on video) right before this happened. The officer who shot Brown had been dispatched to investigate.

I'm not sure why, but for as "redneck" as Calgary is portrayed, the most terribly racist commentary can inevitably be found in the Toronto Sun comments.

Every news story I have read over the past 2 or 3 days mentions that the victim pushed/punched the officer and wrestled with him for his gun. Whether or not there is any truth to it, I have no idea, but all the major news stories have reported it.

I don't know if the story of the victim trying to steal the gun is credible or not. I do understand that the officer was treated at the scene, I would assume that any investigation is going to have to disclose what he was treated for.

But it doesn't matter right now if the victim had a .50 caliber machine gun, riots and protests like this tend to gain a life of their own.

Apparently I'm either reading the wrong news sites, or I just don't know how to read. Both are likely.

Apparently the victim robbed a convenience store earlier that day and roughed up the senior citizen workin there. The officer involved was dispatched to investigate.

Even so, shooting a man in the the back then executing over a $50 dollar box of cigars is not an excuse. He still ####ed up.

I think the bigger point is how much this will hurt his friend's testimony, and that all these comments coming from his parents that this kid has great character might be* false. It could make a big difference in a trial

I don't doubt it. I am already 100% convinced even if this goes to trial He won't see a day in Jail.

Even with the other Eye witness testimony's.

These stills are pretty vague. Is that even Michael Brown?

Tho be fair that's HIghway patrol officer. The highway Patrol are now in charge of security.
The head of the Highway patrol grew up in the community, which apparently the towns police force mainly does not. It makes a huge difference when you have a police force protect people when they are a part of the community and don't come in to the area and view it as hostile territory.

Standard procedure in cases like this is to vilify the victim. We've already seen him flashing "gang signs".

#IfTheyGunnedMeDown seems to be gaining popularity on twitter. I thought it was a great idea.

Of course he won't. When does a cop ever see jail time for killing someone?
