My bet, Sven starts the season with the AHL Flames.

Is a late cut and is told to work on his defensive game.

I understand it can be frustrating when you click into a specific topic (ex. trade rumors/speculation, Flames new arena) expecting new info or updates only to see completely unrelated discussion. That can be really irksome at times.

That being said, I mostly view OT discussion as not a big deal.

Brian is that you?

Seriously, Baertschi should have been on the flames last season ahead of plenty of others, just when him and money were starting to clic sour face fires everyone and sends him down.

My bet is that he will get replaced by some of our other smaller forwards and become expendable. Years from now we will regret trading him.

There's a difference between a discussion "evolving" and being completely off topic. When was the last time someone posted about Kevin Hayes in the thread about Kevin Hayes?

I think Sven will make the team out of camp, if he isn't hungry this year, that is not a good sign.

If the Flames are honest, what do they REALLY have in Baertschi?

A guy who's an AHL top 2/NHL top 6 forward with defensive gaps and some offensive upside...

For me that's a formula for the AHL until he figures out how to play defense or he's trade bait.

The Flames need guys who can play in both ends of the ice and Baertschi isn't that guy yet...

Leave him in the minors until he proves he can commit to playing on both sides of the puck, IMHO.

When was the last time there was news about Kevin Hayes? People on a discussion forum can't just invent news to keep a topic on the straight and narrow. It's a thread about bringing another winger into the organization (yes, an off wing compared to Sven) discussion might just move to other winger prospects.

Might be tough for some that you score three points per game in every single game you play since you were 6 and then all of a sudden you are not the best on the ice anymore. Combine that with some injury issues, he might be little apprehensive going into the corners.

They have mentioned it was not character issues or any of that, great character guy and teammate. Maybe mental toughness, maturity and confidence.
I agree with that, those are my concerns to. He also needs to bulk up a little.

I really think there are some posters on here that can't wait to throw players under the bus just for the sake of doing it.

Sven will be a menace when the umlauts are included on the back of his sweater.

He can't afford to regress like he did last year at this point in his development. His production dropped in both the NHL and AHL, if that happens again it is bad news

I think he breaks through, he was the big star prospect for a year and it put the wrong kind of pressure on him. Then Burke sends him down to send a message to everyone in the organization that you have to be a complete player and not just a skill guy.

Now the only pressure he has is from himself, he won't be demoted from Adirondack and he's got to beat out someone else for a spot. That should get him going, he could have played for us last year but the message was sent loud and clear; hard work and contribution every single shift. Baertschi's demotion probably made every other prospect work way harder because they know how it works now. Wouldn't make sense to trade him if his trade value is at rock bottom, keep him and hope his natural talent turns into an NHL player. We've got the time

I hope some posters are a little more lax when Monahan's shooting % regresses to the mean next year.

If you take 8 of those 13 letters, you can spell "achiever"
I have faith that he'll be an impact player for us this year.

Recently watched Jarmoe's first game back at the 'Dome and Sven stands out on offense in a good way almost on every shift. Nowhere to be seen when the puck is in our end though.

Btw, any update on his injury from the Worlds?
