The kid just likely wanted to hang out with his grandparents overnight. Crazy speculation is not helpful at all.

Without derailing the thread too much or implying anything im not intending on... I just dont see why you would want to put your child in that environment in the first place. ANYTHING could go wrong. Stuff scattered around the house, Grandparents trying to assess, stresses of sales made or not made... Anything... A murderer being that last thing anyone would think of. But there are many things that would make me think thats a bad idea in the very first place.

You're making too much of it. The kid was just having an overnight with his grandparents. I'm sure that he was able to cope with whatever condition the house was in.

I'm sure the grandparents weren't thinking someone was coming over that night to kill them.
smh at some of the comments ITT.

Let's say someone organized a community search for the bodies. Random volunteers focusing on multiple rural roads in that area. Teams of 3-5 spread out on each side of multiple roads. Whatever...something like that. It would be planned out. Use Facebook and Twitter to spread the word, get maps and designate people/teams to roads, etc, etc.
With the police already having laid charges, they must be confident their case is somewhat court ready. And they're asking rural residents to check their own properties.
Would a community search like the one above do more harm than good? (ie: evidence)
I'm out of town until Thursday, but would really like to start working on something like this and plan it for Saturday IF there were no possible negative implications to the case. .
Good idea or should it be left as good intentions and not be done?
|
One big issue with this is that you can not organize and send people on a search on private land without getting appropriate permission from the land owner. You should be fine on public lands but not private lands.

Seriously people, take a breath and stop. I get that people are looking for answers but come on, use your head.
1) That guy who said the bodies have been found probably had a brain fart, have = haven't.
2) What Drury read on twitter is likely verbal diarrhea. More often than not the simplest explaination is the right one.
3) Don't bother blaming the parents or grandparents, it makes you look stupid.

Would seem very odd, and a risk at tainting the general public's trust. Considering the police chief is asking the public to check their yards.

This whole situation is devastating. Nobody deserves that, and I definitely don't think the parents need to shoulder any of the blame for this either...

horrible ending to this story.......my thought go mout to the the family as they deal with this......

Hopefully they realize sooner rather than later that it wasn't their fault. It's great that their child had a close relationship with the grandparents. Very unfortunate and rare thing happened to their boy is all.

Well, the police already stated something violent happened in the home...
Based on the timing of everything, my personal speculation is that they found something at the acreage that caused them to return to the victims' house yesterday. Whatever they found led directly to the charges today. So my guess is they discovered evidence that ties Garland's property NE of Airdrie to the crime scene in Calgary, and definitively enough to allow the Crown to move ahead with murder charges.

That poor mother made a decision that she has probably made many times before. It sounds like she was leaving late and let the kid stay for a sleep over. There have been many mentions about how close the kid was with his Grandma in particular. She did nothing wrong in leaving him with her. But you know that this one decision with stick with her forever. I feel awful for everyone involved, but the mother in particular. I really hopes she can have some perspective and see that she did nothing wrong in letting the kid spend more time with his Grand parents. The whole thing is just awful.

So he hasn't been charged yet?
Guess I thought he was brought in and charged - hence my misunderstanding.

What is wrong with those two quotes?
I made no definitive statement or speculation in the first post you quoted.

The suspect/person of interest has been arrested. He has yet to appear before the court for the charges to be laid, which is why the statement was worded the way it was.
