Damn! Insider trading also reports that the Oilers are looking at making a serious offer at Oli Jokinen.

After Ference going there, I don't think i can handle another of my all time favorites becoming an Oiler.

Next they'll sign Iginla, bring Kipper in as a goalie coach, Fleury in as a shootout advisor, and Nick Fotiu in as an assistant coach. Full nervous breakdown for me.

Isn't that the truth! If you got bought out it is because you weren't worth the money so accept a discounted contract and be fortunate to still be playing a game for a living.

Amazing that Stralman is so sought after. He has been decent with NYR but i just dont think he is that special. 4-4.5 seems like an awful lot

Perfect fit for the Oilers. #2C with size. Lock him up for 4+ years, McT.

Insider trading part II
http://www.tsn.ca/VideoHub/?collection=72&show=390314
  • Oilers interested in Olli Jokinen as 2C
  • Shanahan has tried to convince Gorges to go to Leafs
  • Gorges list of 15 teams he is willing to go to has expanded, but still doesn't include the Leafs
  • Leafs offering deal close to 5x$5mil to Bolland
  • Offers for Reimer are not good enough and he has been told to be ready for Leafs training camp
  • Canucks lobbying hard for Miller
  • Stastny situation will effect Spezza
  • Blues and Stars will make offers for Spezza conditional on him signing a one year extension
  • Calgary pushing hard to re-sign Cammalleri by offering mutliple deals with varying lengths and $
  • Jets are in the market for centermen - Legwand, Grabovski and maybe Jokinen returns

This keeps coming up, and I never gave it much thought other than "Well, naturally this is important." However, I think it was Treliving who recently mentioned that "handed-ness" was very low in importance for their d-man selection criteria. Is it really as important a factor as it seems to get around here? Just curious.

I'm quite interested in what Tanev's value is.

He's no Brodie at all, but the Canucks were willing to trade him (and more) just to move up 5 spots in the draft.

With the Canucks going after Miller and Iginla, would they have any interest in our vets if contract discussions go south?

He would fill a decent void in Calgary.

Why? He seems like the right type of veteran for this team.

He clearly likes Calgary, and we heard a lot of positive things regarding how he treated the rookies along with Hudler.

I would have no problem if we re-signed Cammalleri.

He's also our best bet at a high priced free agent choosing us at this point... something we NEED considering where we are in relation to the cap floor.

After reading what many in the know have to say, and having a quick discussion on twitter with rmillions last week, I am convinced Cammi will NOT be a Flames player much past tomorrow. If I were a betting man (and I am) I would guess an eastern cup contender.

I get the feeling a Cammy overpayment is going to be announced tonight or tomorrow morning.

Because I'm sure he's looking for a much longer term than what I'd be comfortable with.

It concerns me that he likely has a good relationship with Linden, and would know Benning from this past season in Boston.

I just hope he has the same "I just couldn't bring myself to wear that jersey" reaction that Smyth had when he was choosing between the Flames and Avs.

Plus, if he wants to sign with a non-playoff team in the Pacific Division, he might as well come back here.

Yeah, that's probably true.

I just don't know what the alternative will be, someone new will be making $5M on this team and there are only a few UFAs worth that much, and I'm not sure how many would choose to come here right now.

If Iginla would sign in Vancouver, you'd have to think he would want to play in Edmonton before he retired, having grown up an Oilers fan.

It's a slippery slope Iggy, don't you dare!
