I love things like this, they just dont happen anymore.
Quote:
After perusing the club's transfer papers, the chairman of East Sterlingshire FC found that the Scottish League Two side were still owed a favour by Chelsea.
You see, as part of the £5,000 transfer agreement that took left-back Eddie McCreadie from Shire to Chelsea back in 1962, the Scottish side were promised two friendlies with the Blues; one at home and one away.
The first game was played at Firs Park in 1963 but the return fixture at Stamford Bridge was never honoured.
According to BBC Tayside, Shire chairman Tony Ford realised that his club had been out of pocket for the past 52 years and duly made a friendly approach to Chelsea to ask if they would rectify the situation.

Do it! East Sterlingshire FC play in Scottish League 2. Lets see Chelsea park the bus for this one!

Well Arsenal declined the first option to sign him, and he is not starting at Barcelona, so he wants a move to start, and a move to the Premier League too. Is there a "good"option for Arsenal fans for an ex-Arsenal player to go to out of Chelsea and the two Manchester teams? That would be the only teams he would consider.

Yeah, Arsenal didnt pick up their option so you cant blame him too much. Plus his wages at Chelski are probably around double what Arsenal would have paid.

Pool could've used him too, for depth in Europe next season.
That said, how does a Gunnars opponents distaste rank?
1A) Manchester United Keano & Ruud 1B) Tottenham Hotspur
2) Chelsea & Liverpool
3) West Ham? Stoke?

For me it's:
1) Man United
2) Tottenham
3) Chelsea
4) Man City
5) Liverpool
Most Arsenal fans from London would probably put Tottenham #1 and maybe even Chelsea ahead of United, but since my brother is a United fan and I have no real personal hatred for Spurs I'd rank them first.

It's hard for me to blame him, since Arsenal did decline their option. It's just awfully tough to swallow given the fact Arsenal fans believed he could walk on water when he was with the Gunners.
RvP is still a much bigger C U Next Tuesday than Fabergas. Still, this stings....a lot.

I just love the fact that he left Arsenal to 'Go Home' and most people, myself especially, wondered what he was doing as he wasnt good enough to start for Barca and was basically taking on a bench role.
Lo and behold, he wasnt good enough to start for Barca, warmed the bench and now wants to leave. Surprise, surprise.

If you truly love a club, you wouldn't move back to the same league unless its to play for that club. A good option would have been any other league out there.

At the time, his request was somewhat baffling. He was treated like Jesus at Arsenal but wanted to go to Barca where his "position" was being occupied by some scrub named Xavi. Always thought he was seen as the replacement to Xavi but that never happened.
A shame really, wish him nothing but failure at Chelsea with Mourinho....who he actually told to shut up through the media last season.

Is there something Cesc brings that Mata doesn't? Mata didn't fit into Mourinho's side because his work rate off the ball wasn't good enough. Isn't Fabregas going to have the exact same problem?

Fabregas can play deeper
in Jose's 4-2-3-1 he can play Cesc in the 2 beside Matic
Mata needs to play advanced

Piers taking it well, ChequesFabregas lacks the class of "La Mercenier" for Nasri or Van Pursestrings for RVP

I hear @cesc4official 's salary demands were 'obscene'. Hence Arsenal refusing to pick up option. What a 'true Gunner' he turned out to be.

I don't follow La Liga at all really, but Cesc hasn't played deep for Barca, has he? I don't doubt that he can have an impact at Chelsea, but it won't surprise me at all if he doesn't make it into the starting 11 with any regularity.

Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has agreed a deal in principle to join Manchester United this summer.
United must now agree a fee with Arsenal after the World Cup, but Vermaelen hopes to move to Old Trafford and is preparing to leave the Emirates.
Central defender Vermaelen only has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract and has found himself pushed out of manager Arsene Wenger’s first-choice team by Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.
New United manager Louis van Gaal is desperate to strengthen United’s defence and believes Vermaelen can find his best form under him.
The 28-year-old has been at Arsenal for five years after signing from Dutch club Ajax. He got off to a superb start with the Gunners, but injuries curtailed his progress.
Vermaelen earns around £70,000-a-week and it is understood he has verbally agreed a deal with United that would see him pocket around £100,000-a-week.
Arsenal cannot expect to receive more than £10million for Vermaelen with only a year remaining on his contract.
