A week or so old but Neil Lennon resigned from Celtic. Not a lot was revealed by him as to why, but given his nature and past, all sorts of rumors as to why. But given the garbage he had to put with off the field (attacked in his car, death threats) likely not a bad decision.
Also, not much challenge in Scotland at the moment. To win the league Celtic doesn't need to spend, to go anywhere in the Champions League they do need to spend. They won't spend because they won't get talent to come just for a hopeful European run.
So, maybe England next for Lennon.
As for Celtic, Roy Keane appears to be the front runner. Probably a good opening gig In Scotland for him, though he's been out of the managers seat for a few years now.
if you told someone who has lived in a cave the last 10 years to look at the teams in the SPL and the Scottish Championship next year without knowing which is which they probly choose the championship as the SPL

Quote:
Neil Lennon's persecution shames ScotlandThe catastrophic lack of action by the authorities to protect the former Celtic manager is a disgrace
I don't think Keane is the right man for Celtic as (a) I simply don't rate him as a manager, (b) he is too hot headed, (c) there is no challenge
Apart from that, why anyone would want to willingly enter into that cesspit of sectarian hatred and bigotry is beyond me. You'd need to be a bit dumb. Paging Gazza.

Roy Keane has decided to remain assistant boss with the Republic of Ireland despite holding talks about becoming the new manager of Celtic.
Ireland boss Martin O'Neill, who managed Celtic for five years, had revealed the approach to the 42-year-old from Celtic last week.
But a source at the Scottish champions said: "Roy was not offered the job - no-one has been offered it yet.
"But he has ruled himself out and asked not to be considered for the position."
O'Neill had said he expected a decision on Keane's future before Wednesday, when Ireland fly out to the United States for friendlies against Costa Rica and Portugal.
And the Football Association of Ireland said in a statement: "Roy Keane has confirmed he will travel to the US after deciding not to pursue talks with Celtic any further."
Well this makes me kind of sad and upset at the same time.
Unfortunately he really doesn't fit what Arsenal need at the moment with Ozil, Ramsey and Wilshere all filling pretty much the same role. It's still going to hurt like hell when he ends up at a rival. I'm hoping PSG decides they have to have him, but he'll probably end up at Chelsea. At the end of the day though Arsenal just can't afford to spend that much simply to keep a player away from other clubs - we aren't Man City or Chelsea.

Liverpool & United could really use him.
Although, Fab is an upgrade on Wilshere too.

Logic won't help if we see him in Chelsea blue. And to be fair, I'm fairly biased since he's my favorite Gunner since Henry.
Have Cesc playing the deep playmaker role that Pirlo has defined with Carrick as protection, Plus Kagawa and Cesc can easily play fluid roles where they switch with one another.
Plus you still have RVP, Welbeck, Cleverley, Nani, Young, Januzaj, and Fellani as really strong bench.

van Persie will not be a bench player under van Gaal. No chance. Accomodating all of van Persie, Rooney, Mata and Kagawa is nearly impossible, so I imagine we'll only see 3 out of those 4 starting together. I expect either a 5-3-2 or 4-4-2 diamond. Those are the formations that van Gaal has used in recent friendlies with the national team, and with having both van Persie and Rooney I believe he'll opt for those systems at United as well.
Would love Fabregas at United, but can't see it happen. Van Gaal also seems to not want him, based on what has been said by the very few journos that I actually trust. My guess is that he wants Strootman in January, but that won't be enough. Need to bring in another good CM this summer.
I could understand him wanting to go back to his boyhood club but this... Unforgivable.
