What? I watched the replay frame-by-frame and the check was totally clean. No elbows. Might have caught the guy trying to slide by on the boards and his head caught McGrattan's shoulder pad. Sure arms were flinging from McGrattan after the hit. I think Albert, after getting the shoulder pad, got knocked out cold and hit the ice flat-faced, which is even worse.

Still no word on Alberts condition, he's listed as day to day with a head injury but no word if he even got a concussion or not

I'm already on record as saying Alberts wasn't trying to sell anything. However, I am reminded of an incident in the championship game of the Macs Tournament a few years ago. A Russian kid got slammed into the boards - mostly from behind - and his reaction was an overly dramatic 360 degree spin and fall. It was ridiculous, embarrassing, and he rightly got a minor for diving.

But his arm was also broken by the hit. When the ref realized that, he tossed the other kid with a boarding major. But it was as perfect an example as I am likely to ever see of how diving and acting has become so ingrained for some that they over dramatize even legitimate injuries. The Vancouver Canucks as an organization are at that level. I don't think Alberts acted anything there, but it is often hard to look at a Canuck player falling awkwardly and not wonder.

Bump. Looks like it could have been the final blow for Alberts, considering retirement. Unfortunate

But really, that's unfortunate. Did he have a history of concussions before this hit?

No suspension for McGrattan, but looking at the first page of this thread, lifetime suspensions for moon and puckluck2!

Yes - the article states he had issues back in 2007.

Got his bell wrung in 07 by Hartnell. Missed 40 odd games. Feel bad for the guy for sure.

Yeah, Hartnell got suspended for a concussing hit on him in 2007. He also gets injured quite often.
