At this point, it would be ridiculously dumb to trade Johnny before you give him a chance at the NHL with your own team.

Good catch, I just noticed that. Amazing.

No....I don't think Burke and Treliving are dumb as posts they aren't where they are because Burke refuses to learn how to tie a nice Windsor knot or that Trevling knows he will be set once Dad hands over the pizza business. These guys can easily spot talent no different than anyone here, what they will have trouble doing is adding talented muscle to surround JG with. However, the more I see I think the Big Earn could pot 40 goals next year 35 of which come off his bum cheeks but they will all count.

Somewhere out there, Jay Feaster is smiling.
If Johnny pans out, it will make everything Feaster did worth it.

He's short?! Hey, did anyone else realize he's short?! Oh man, all this excitement for nothing! What didn't anyone tell us he is a small human being until now?!

That pass was really a once in a lifetime type thing. That type of thing isn't happening again. Barely squeaks through the legs, barely makes it past the goal frame, Abdelkader in absolute perfect position swooping through at the perfect time, perfect re-direct shot to the perfect spot in the net.
Ahh fatso, you're so fat!!!

Yeah, and to add to the crazy I think he's done this type of pass before, also successful. I have a vague memory of Calgarypuck trying to figure this out before.
He's got insane vision and his ability to know where all other players are on the ice is off the charts.

If that was an intentional play, we are talking about some Faustian, supernatural, otherwordly, black magic, Cross-roads or voodoo type skill for Johnny Hockey and I shudder to think of the dues that will inevitably be collected on it! Hide your first borns!

Yes, the pass went right between the defender's skates. Use gif-explode to view the gif frame by frame. Here is the smoking gun:

The thing is, even if someone like me (with decent but not even in my wildest dreams skill like JG) tried to do that, I MIGHT be able to turn quick enough and MIGHT be able to control my stick enough to purposly TRY and put the puck to the front of the net there and I MIGHT get lucky and have it go through a guys skate and land right on a wide open man's tape in front. All of those things MIGHT happen by complete fluke, once. And it could be written off by naysayers as such, but he does these seemingly impossible to do on purpose things not only game to game, but shift to shift. A lot of the stuff he does isn't even seen by many people because they don't end up as goals, but man, if you isolate and only watch him on the ice, you can see that none of these things are accidents.

Yep. He seems to have that ability to take his game to the next level and the desire to prove himself every time he's on the ice. Even if he does start the season in the AHL, I have a feeling he'll do the same thing Fleury did 25 years ago and play so out of his mind that the Flames will have no choice but to call him up.

Marcel Dionne was 5'8" wide too of mostly muscle. Not really a fair comparison unless you compare Marcel Dionne with MSL.
It is so tough not to be super excited for JG and although I so desperately want him to be the next one. I want Johnny's play to dictate where he plays. If it is on the farm next year so be it, or if it is first line with Monahan/Backlund so be it. It is evident though it takes him a few games to become comfortable in an environment and then look out.

Not from this tourney, but this is still my favourite "WTF, Johnny?" behind the net goal (I also love that there are enough of them to have a favourite)...
Watch it a couple of times to process the fact that it's not just a lucky bounce on a pass in front because there's no one in front of the net at that angle for him to be passing to. That's a deliberate attempt to score.

Should we really be crediting Jay Feaster for the Gaudreau pick? Shouldn't it be Wisebroad or more importantly, Button??
