Scoring Winger

I could watch those gifs all day long... real hard to temper expectations for him. He excels at every level and everywhere he goes

Scoring Winger
|
[QUOTE/] Gaudreau got his goal early in the third with an outrageous bit of skill. Rushing from the blue line, he pulled off some exquisite stick-handling around the face-off spot to leave two German defencemen standing as he advanced on Danny aus den Birken and scored.
That put USA up for the fourth time, and earned Gaudreau his third point of the afternoon before he assisted Justin Abdelkader's second goal of the game, America's fifth. [/QUOTE]

If that is true that is a huge step up from what anyone expected at this point i'm sure as far as his weight concern.
I wonder if they do measurements before the tournament?
|
You're reading that wrong.
His height is 1.73m / 5'8". His weight is 72 kg / 159 lbs.

Good gravy. That doesn't even look real. How the hell did he....bah I'm not even going to question what he does any more and just accept it.
Unreal pass and I predict JG will lead the whole tournament in scoring by the end. I'm almost rooting for the Americans, just so Johnny can win it all.

So Monahan, Johnny Hockey and a Sam or a Draisaitl. I like how the next decade is shaping up.

I'm stoked to see him not only being creative but putting up points in a tournament against professionals. I think if he can go into camp and be allowed to have some creative autonomy, we are going to have a star on our hands. I wonder why often when there is a prospect with this kind of creative ability why they try to make him a 2 way player instead of just letting him get confident offensively then introducing defense.

Poor Moritz Muller, #91 on Germany. I'm sure he'll be happy not to face Johnny again anytime soon.

Missed the laser pass across here:

Just wanted to post these gifs again

I had to watch those gifs on low bandwidth today, so they were all in super-slow motion. Just as exciting to watch though; he has the vision to pick out incredibly difficult passes or scoring opportunities and he has the insanely skilful ability to pull them off.
What's not to love about this guy? If he were 6'7" I don't think he'd have the same vision or agility. I like Gaudreau just the way he is: a smallish offence wizard who will give defencemen nightmares for years.

I feel the same. A 6'4'' JG isn't going to be doing the stuff he is now. His smaller frame allows him to pull off these moves and be the player he is. Physicality isn't his game. Elusiveness/shiftiness is.

I had to watch that Abdelkater goal 5 times to figure out where the puck came from....that's ridiculous.
Is it just me or does it seem like he's getting better as the tourney goes on?

Wow, that pass to Abdelkader from behind the net is so Datsyukian, I remember a goal just like it but can't find the clip. Definitely getting hard to temper expectations for this kid.

Is there any place for scoring leader stats? TSN is still screwing him for a point.

Holy crap. I'm having a hard time tempering my excitement with this kid, as we all our. You just can't deny that every single level of hockey he plays - he does this.

That assist is even prettier than the goal.
Not sure how he alters his hands to push the puck back around the net while skating the other direction. Just ridiculous.
