Liked Kent Nilsson, but of course I didn't want to see him win a cup while wearing an Oilers jersey. I got over it, but it took a while.

But I do not hope him winning it this year would see him return to Calgary next season (for the record I don't think that's even remotely something that would happen). This a Flames team needs more time and more distance to develop its new identity and culture. I'd say at least a couple more seasons if not 3. Then only then would it be safe for Iggy to return to be a part of the new team and retire with this organization. If he comes back before then, it would simply confuse the leadership structure and throw into disarray the new culture and new page this team worked so hard to instil this year.
Agreed. Our culture is too fragile to re-add Iginla.

Simple, he was my favourite player and he was a Flame.
Marchand is not a Flame, just some arrogant prick from another team.
Get with the program.

I also don't recall a single cheap shot by Flames in the Battle of Alberta but plenty of Oil's.

theoforever, I can tell from your stance on the importance of being a Flame that we have a lot in common. Too bad cheering for the Bruins this spring isn't one of them!

Shouldn't the thread title be updated to [13]?

That was close. Looked like Bruins were in trouble. Iggy better pick it up if he wants to be in Conn Smythe conversation!

I don't think Iggy gives a rats ass about the Conn Smythe, he wants the cup!

I think there's a bit of a difference between the 2 scenarios. Iginla was the heart of the Flames for more than a decade. Nilsson was a fantastic talent, maybe one of the best.... but he could have been a heart donor upon retiring because he never used it while playing.

Yeah I would like iggy to win the cup this season as much as the next guy, but unfortunately I don't think Boston has what it takes to win it this season. Whoever makes it to the finals out of the East will get completely flattened by the western Champs.

I also think the West is much stronger than the east but think about how beat up the winner of the West will be. If LA beats Anaheim, they most likely play Chicago. Whoever wins that series will not have much gas left.

Also, Rask is incredibly solid.
